It fits perfectly!

It is as soft as any of the softest, best vintage felt I have ever seen!

Some time ago, I posted a scan from Hat Life (1941) and said I wanted a hat like it some day. Art didn't know it, but he provided that hat!

Pleased isn't the word. I'll get pics this weekend.

The result.

It is just soft enough to feel like it should, yet has enough body to hold shape well. JamesPowers - is this felt FINE? I ask you??

Brim is 2 5/8, crown is 5" at the front peak, ribbon 1". Sweat is thin, soft, cream tan leather.

Scott, you look great! Trim, dignified style. And that hat -- Man, oh man. How can every one of these Tropic-Aires that I see look better than the last one? With each new hat, it seems I'm saying, "Yeah, that's my new favorite."

Dinerman calls the ribbon orange; on my monitor, it's more of a dark rust. Can you enlighten us?

It photographs as a brighter orange than it is. Art described it as "copper." In lower light, it's a dull copper. In bright light, it pops.

Thank you for the pics Scott and the kind words Gents!! This has been a fun project as almost every hat is different in some way and the world is almost open ( NO BLUE Scott) for the ribbon combos. I truly hope everyone enjoys their creations and know that we are going forward with more colors starting in a few weeks.

Really like your hat. The ribbon treatment is A+. I also left the ribbon up to Art. He seems to always show such wonderful taste. You should have a lot of fun matching the ribbon with your ties. Congradulations. :eusa_clap

I have some vintage navy color ribbon, and I think it looks really good next to the 'natural' color felt.
