Here's a look at my second Borsalino. It's got a 2 5/8" brim with a 5 3/4" crown and is tan, though it looks sorta gray in some of the pix.

The liner and sweat are in very good shape, with no hint of deterioration in the leather.

The reorder label reads "512P 19829 E" and the words "Avorio" and "Ta/Ludora."

Can someone translate? Are "Avorio" and "Ta/Ludora" the color or style or something completely different? My gray Borsalino of the same style has the word "Bismuto" on the reorder label. Is that the color or style, also?
The felt is softer (older?) than my gray one, and is almost too floppy at the front of the brim. However, it's one of my favorite hats, invariably commented on when I wear it.

SNRBFSHN, THE NAMES AVORIO AND BISMUTO ARE TWO COLORS THAT BORSALINO MADE YEARS AGO IN THEIR OLD FACTORY . THE STYLE HAT THAT YOU HAVE IS CALLED THE ALESSANDRIA AND HAS BEEN AROUND FOR AT LEAST 50 YEARS .
I HAVE AN AVORIO BORSALINO JUST LIKE THAT THAT I FOUND IN AN OLD HAT STORE IN NEW JERSY A FEW YAERS AGO . ITS A COLOR THEY DONT HAVE ANYMORE . SOME PEOPLE CALL IT SILVERBELLY TODAY.

Interesting hat. Probably from the late 40s early fifties.
The city of Alessandria was where their factory was located at that time. Thus the name Allesandria. They made many different styles as well. The style with the narrow ribbon is probably the most common found.
The felt is top notch quality and I only wish they made them as good as that now.

Regards to all,

J
