Winterland - thats a good looking jacket, obviously well made and the style suits you well. Body length and sleeves look fine to me, only you can say if it feels resrictive in any way. Some jackets can go a bit loose over time, so I would give it some wear and see how it goes. Thanks for the pics.

I have four tattoos with quality ranging from the finest studio in NYC to a homemade job done in my pal's living room for a laugh. My advice is thus:

1. For Pete's's sake, wait until your at least 25.
2. Choose a design that means something to you deeply rather than something you think simply looks good. The glow will last forever as opposed to about three months.
3. Don't go in for lots of text. People wanna look at tattoos, not read them and it's so easy to get some slogan that you think is profound but is in actual fact dumb.... trust me on this!
4. Once you've decided to actually get one, don't be concerned with being too tasteful. If you're gonna have it, have it large.
5. If you're a male, don't get anything on your ankle.
6. If you're a human, don't get anything on your lower back.
7. If you're from a small nation, nationalism in tattoos is good.
8. If you're from a big nation, nationalism in tattoos is bad.
9. Don't get a picture from your favorite children's book. It's pathetic.
10. No celebrity portraits. It's pathetic.
11. Have a one line explanation for any tattoo that is in a place where someone you don't like may see it. Explaining a tattoo is fun the first time, it sucks the fiftieth time, especially if you aren't trying to get in the pants of the person asking about it.
12. Bad tattoos can be good if they mean something or are funny or have a big scar through the middle of them.
13. Good tattoos can be bad if all they do is make you look like someone with too much disposable income.
14. If in doubt, get either your favorite food or your favorite subject in school tattooed on the inside of your lower lip. It will get instant respect everywhere except in venues where you would never deliberately expose the inside of your lower lip anyway.
15. Pi to as many decimal places as possible is a great tattoo (also useful).
16. The ultimate tattoo will always be a tattoo of something or someone that also has a tattoo.

I recently saw a kid with the Monster energy drink logo (that jaggedy, melted looking "M") on his forearm. About 7" or 8" long and bright green. I think he violated rule one also.

I think many people eventually regret their choices in tattoos. I'm thinking that kid probably achieved his regret in record time. Like, the next day, maybe.

Nice jacket but I wonder are you concerned about being able to wear something underneath as winter insulation? Is the fit too snug? As for brown -v- black my cooper goatskin attracted the unwelcome attentions of two drunks at an International Rugby Match in Cardiff..maybe they were 80s fashionistas...

It is a little tight in the shoulders and neck when zipped all the way. I expect it would break in a little in that area. Otherwise I believe the fit is great.
I will have to decide if I want to keep it and see what happens or send back or sell.

I just tried mine on again and zipped it all the way up, it is a little snug in the shoulders and neck as well, I think thats just the cut. More importantly I don't really think this is a style meant to be worn zipped all the way up, if at all....

If you don't mind me asking , being as it has the old label design , was this a sale jacket which you had modified on the sleeve length ?
It looks like a great fit to me , and as long as you're comfortable with the fit about the neck and shoulders , I'd keep it .
I'm sure it will loosen up some with regular wear.

I think the thing people have to realise is that while it looks like a Highwayman, it doesn't fit like one. Roadsters are closer fitting. Of the two I prefer the roadster for that reason. Even better is if has zip sleeves. Re the zip and zipping it all the way up of course you are supposed to be able to do that. If you can't, you need a bigger size. But I will agree that with this type of short fitted jacket it's not intended for fitting multiple layers under, as you could with it's predecessor the highwayman.

I didn't meant to imply you shouldn't be able to zip it up, just that its my impression that most would wear this type of jacket unzipped most of the time.

I'm really interested in you saying the roadster is a closer fit that the highwayman, I just assumed AL just preferred people to essentially size down and thats the way they did their sizing...so its actually a different cut?

The Roadster was a jacket with the old tag design. I did request the arms be shortened from 26" to 25". I know that length works for me. I did get it for a nice price.
I have posted a picture of my broken in brown Lost Worlds Ryder to show how an inch can make a difference when trying to get the perfect fit jacket. It is an inch wider in the shoulders than the Roadster. Pits and arms the same. It is longer in front and back but you can vary the size there, in my opinion, more than the shoulders, pit to pit and arm length. I can fit a sweater under the LW as in the picture. Zipped all the way snug but not uncomfortable, but it is not too loose with just a t-shirt.
As I have mentioned I need a jacket that will serve me at times in real cold weather and will need to zip up all the way. I would not keep a jacket that I couldn't. I think the size will be fine though. If it ends up not breaking in to allow me a comfortable fit with a sweater then it will probably move on as soon as I find a different perfect fit black jacket. It is the elusive hunt for leather.
