My New Aero Hercules !!

Hey guys,

Presenting my newly acquired Aero Hercules in super heavy Chromexcel Brown Steerhide. Asked for the thickest CXL Steerhide they had and the thickest Sheepskin Shearing liner for the body. This along with alpaca wool lining in the sleeves makes for a super warm jacket for the coming winter. Thanks to Carrie at Thurston for getting everything perfect. Love the fit. The hide seems to be a bit uniform brown as opposed to having the more reddish tones. But I guess that may eventually comes with wear and age as the chromexcel pulls up. It's definitely a heavy beast but that's how I like my leather : heavy and juicy!!!

That's pure luxury mate! Congratulations. I have a new Herc in FQHH stuck in customs right now. I can't wait to get it. I just stuck with alpaca lining. I would love a shearling lined jacket, just don't know how much use it would here in OZ. throw up a truckload of snaps, I love it!

Lol, yeah, last couple of winters have been pretty brutal here so decided go in all guns blazing!!

Any ideas on how to get the brown hide to lighten on the colour and show some reddish tones? I am trying daily sunlight exposure from the indoors in a cool room so there is no risk of drying the leather. Any thoughts?

I'd just wear the hell out of it, don't worry about drying the leather or whatever. The more bumps, scrapes and general abuse you give it, the more the underlying reddish tones with come through. If you do right, it looks like this:

Just wear it every chance you get, my steer hide Board Racer started developing really nice colours, grain, creasing etc much quicker than my HH jackets, I'm talking a few days/weeks.

Looks like the Hercs are the current flavour of the month, I've got at Black Vicenza with alpaca lining on order, hopefully it gets to me before the weather turns warm

Very nice jacket. Scrolling thru the photobucket pics I saw a LW suburban with fur collar and lined with sheepskin. Do you still have it and if so, how does it compare to the new Aero?
