LW is not the heaviest at all, their heaviest HH (claim 4oz plus) in stock size 42 and 44 (non cross zip type) never exceed 7.5 lbs which is the weight of my Vanson Enfiled.

I used to obsess with LW 4oz plus HH, but when I discover Vanson has almost same weight leather with nearly half price (different leather , can’t say one superior to another ) , there is no reason for me to deal with Stu. Not mention somebody recently got 10 lbs+ Aero steerhide which made me ordered same one.

Doesn’t JL also have access to and sometimes use very, very heavy hides?

Never asked them, should have thought about it, thanks :)

What is the max thickness you ever got from LW? 4oz or a bit more?

Talk to Alan at JL. If you want superheavy, yet very comfortable, ask him about their bisonhide.. they shave that down to whatever thickness required and my car coat in 3,75oz is heavy yet so pliable and comfy that I think you could easily wear that hide in 5-6oz if you wanted to. I think a member from here got a 5 oz bison jacket a few years back. Looked massive.

I just wanted to mention how helpful this thread has been for me.
It is so convenient to have all these measurements in one place, with pics showing how to interpret them.
Since creating this thread i have bought jackets i would never have before because i would have assumed they wouldn't fit me.
The LaBrea is a prime example, there is no way i would have bought a jacket with a 24.5" back and 25.5" arms a year ago.
But seeing this thread, i was able to see that 24.5" although short was definitely going to work ok, and i could see that the shoulder width and arm length combination was similar enough to my Schott that it probably would fit fine and work.
Had i not had all these pictures and numbers to ponder over i would have never gambled that amount of money on buying a jacket from Japan.

This thread is a massive plus for me, because it got rid of a lot of sizing insecurities i had. Here i can clearly see what works and what doesn't, where an inch matters and where it doesn't, pictures don't lie!
It is one thing knowing your usual measurements, it is another being able to see yourself wearing many styles with many different measurements and different fits.
It has changed what i thought were "My perfect numbers" for the best, and has made me less obsessed about getting the same numbers for every jacket i own. Which is stupid in the first place, since different patterns will fit differently with the same numbers!

All that to say, i really recommend you do the same.
It is dangerous, it definitely has an enabling characteristic, but it really helps nail the fit more than anything else i have done in this crazy obsession (hobby, i mean hobby!)...

Very nice, I was eyeballing the Diamond Buco. Good job on that one. Very very nice jacket.
