This thread doesn't get enough love. Here are some additions.

Wilke velour called "Bürstel Electra" in blue. Fedora in size 58 with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. The label says 7, but the measurements add up to a size 58. The blue colour is called "schwalbe" (swallow) on the label. I'm thinking 1930's. Steve @mayserwegener has one on his website in grey. Same model with the loose bow ends. I do find Wilke hats on a regular basis, but they're always the later ones (sixties most likely). This was a nice change, both in style and colour. The hand of the felt is wonderful and the condition is excellent. Just look at that colour.
Otto Döppe of Rostock is in business since at least 1910, but I don't think the hat is that early.

Janyška Gazela chamois in glorious blue. Size 55 (@Hagwood are you paying attention?) with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown 10cm at the center dent. I think "gazela" refers to the finish (much like "antilope") and the "New Style" on the liner to the model. Janyška was founded in 1921 and got nationalised after the war into Tonak. I don't think they kept the brand name alive after WWII. So they weren't around for long and I can't recall having ever seen one before.
I tend not to bring along hats smaller than my size, but this one is in such a great colour and condition that it had to come. Kind of a funny story actually: I found four (of friday's five hats in total) in the same shop. Appears they have a shop policy though that you can only buy two of the same item (to prevent dealers coming in). I've known about this, but usually the shop help isn't that concerned once I tell them I'm a collector. Not this girl though; she wouldn't budge a millimeter. Well, what to do? I made my choice and paid for two hats. As soon as she was helping other customers I grabbed the two others and trundled down the stairs (the hats are upstairs) and paid for the other two at the downstairs cashier's desk. Felt a bit like I was shoplifting or doing something else illegal, but I got my hats!

I could say, pulchritudinous, but you have cracked that one. It's hard to comprehend that such a word means beauty, it sounds more like an unsociable disease. So how about nefarious? That's what you were, you flagitious miscreant you. But I do understand, like you, I can resist anything, except temptation, and that beautiful hat is sheer temptation. I love the colour, the crease and the ribbon, how perfect it would go with my navy coloured suit.

Thanks, Robert. I know how you feel in this case. In fact none of the hats I found this friday fit me! That was a first to be honest. It was enough to defy shop policy for; when Scotland yard shows up I'm ready!

Thanks, gents!

Very nice, sir.

Glad this one ended up with you Jonathan ! Great catch (price too) !
I was pleasantly surprised as well. I know homburgs don't fetch as much as fedoras but I thought this would go for more than it did. These indie shop jobber hats also seem to go for less money than the branded big names. If I found more hats like this one I'd take them all day.

Very nice. Good shape to it and the liner is fabulous.
The liner definitely sealed the deal for me on this one. The electric blue color reminded me of some mint hard candies my grandparents used to have when I was kid growing up. They always had a bag of mixed hard candies in their car and the blue mint was my favorite.

Another blue one. Gimbel homburg in blue. Size 56 with the brim at 5cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Unreeded sweatband and a gloriously coloured liner (it's what sold it to me). There might be some wool content in the felt and it has that nice old-time feel. In great shape with just some loose stitches on the sweat.

I missed this post! The Gimbels homburg is dynamite. What a historically significant hat in a eye stopping blue and maroon. Those colors are truly eye catching. Lovely hat. I bet it is fun to wear and when the inevitable happens you can take it off and showcase the interior to admirers. Congrats on the homburg.

Portis Supreme Quality in blue. Size 7, unlined with the bound brim at 7cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Lightweight hat it is as well with just 92 grams.

This thin ribboned Portis is very special. Color, scarcity and condition - the hat has all the big three! The hat, sold at Yandt's in Missoula, Montana has traveled far to your hat rack. Glorious hat - congrats!

It took a detour, but it ended up at the right stop. I’m glad this worked out for you, Stefan. That color is fantastic!
Thank you, Brent. I figure it was meant to be.

Thank you, Eric. Much appreciated. I do like those blue hats and if special ones like these come along it's getting on board and hope for the best.
