very good ... but obviously sad story of Keiths life ... wonderful stories of he and Ricky Skaggs playing in Ralph Stanleys band ... good stuff

Keiths music has been hugely instrumental in my life

I saw him perform once in Georgia around '87 or '88 ... my family was vacationing in Florida and my brother had heard he was playing so we drove up to catch the show

it was at a fairground with Alabama and Nitty Gritty Dirt band

“Out Of Hand”...”Drinking Thing” ... “Acting Single, Drinking Double” were all on a steady rotation on the radio when I was growing up. I loved his sound.

Gary Stewart. Underrated in my opinion.

Yessss. Gary's family was originally from Kentucky, but settled in my parent's hometown of Ft. Pierce, FL when he was a youngster. That part of Florida has a long history of cattle, citrus and country living. Gary was a compatriot of Mel Tillis, another (recently deceased) Floridian. When I was younger working my way through college I worked for a local funeral home that held the funeral for Gary's sister who sadly had committed suicide. Unfortunately, Gary followed in her footsteps years later after the death ofhis wife from pneumonia. He has a high, lonesome voice and songs that fit the hard-living life he led. If you're in one of "those" moods, his songs and voice will break your heart.
Gary's photos frequently show him in fedoras.
