Movies you wished you had never watched.

Alright, I know there are plenty of movies that I wished I hadn't wasted my time on, but this is about movies that were good and well made(opinion of course).
If you aren't following what I mean because I haven't really articulated it well enough, I'll just explain by example.

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Well photographed and a lot of effort put into it but I wished I had never seen it. It conflicts with my personal vision of the books which I read and enjoyed many years ago. I read the books and envisioned the story with my imagination but now that I've seen the movies, the images of the movie come to mind whenever I reread the story. I prefer what I imagine how the landscape and characters look like instead of someone else's interpretation.

The Hobbit is coming out soon but I think I'll stay home and read the book again.

Breakfast at Tiffany's - it's beautiful, I adore Moon River, but it bugs me every time that they changed the book's perfect ending for some Hollywood "happy ending" crap. Ditto the 1986 film version of the musical Little Shop of Horrors. In truth I didn't care for Ellen Green's portrayal of Audrey (for all she was the original), but the way they changed the ending at the behest of some inane test audience is unforgivable.

The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover. Two hours of my life I'll never get back....

Death Becomes Her, Howard the Duck, Team America: World Police, Caligula :eeek: and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf. The last one I know is considered a "classic" but two hours of drunk people screaming at each other is not my cup of tea, even with vodka in it.

Team America was a truly horrendous movie.

I don't care what others think of it. While the music was alright, the movie itself put me to sleep. Literally. It was the first time in years that I actually fell asleep in the cinema from boredom. My parents really wanted to see it and they dragged me along.

The Da Vinci Code.

Loved the book. Hated the movie.

I read Planet of the Apes way after I saw the (original) movie. I still enjoyed the book better. I was very young when I saw the movie, so I guess it didn't hold up well.

Hi

I intensely dislike most Robin Williams movies, I hate comedies with a sad part. The World According to Garp shut me off him with the car rear ending the other car in the driveway scene. That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a movie, and then it killed his son. What's up with that kind of thing?

Barry Lyndon, another really annoying movie about annoying people.

I'm sure I'll come up with more, but I usually go see movies that I'm pretty sure I'll like.

Why do you bother watching them? There are so many lousy movies these days. I just shut them off anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes in.

This weekend I didn't watch Nowhere Boy, The Good Night, Hairspray, and The Man With Two Brains. Why do they waste their time making such muck. I guess they can't help themselves.

On the good sidetonight I watched a new 3 Stooges CD with 3 or 4 of their shorts I never saw before, very funny. Also watched Song Of The Thin Man with William Powell and Myrna Loy and enjoyed it as much as always.

Agreed. I feel bad 'cause I'm a girl, and we're supposed to looove that movie lol... but I much prefer the grittier Capote story. Though if Marilyn Monroe had played Holly like he'd envisioned, I think it would've been much, much better (no offense to Audrey-- she's perfectly adorable).

I've not seen the movie, but the TV series of Tinker Tailor was one of the best I've ever seen.

Agreed entirely. Even as it was, if they'd but stayed true to the ending in the book..... The "I don't want to trap you, I just want to love you!" scene is superb (they also bring out very well "Fred's" hypocrisy n that he's basically a gigolo too), but to the go and ruin it with them getting together..... ghastly.

If you mean the version in which Alec Guinness did an absolutely fantastic job portraying George Smiley, I couldn't agree more. One of the finest performances I've ever seen on TV...thanks for reminding me, David!

I'm so sad to say because I'm a huge Elvis fan, but lot of those movies really suck

Avatar, Public Enemies, King Kong, and the Return of the King. I could have just watched a cool screen saver for 10minutes and saved 2 hours and $16... Need more than digital and computer graphics to entertain me...

The Blair Witch Project... what a con...

Any of the films I've seen with Seth Rogan, Will Farrell or Jack Black...

Anything Tarantino did since Reservoir Dogs, just watch the new film's trailer and then rewatch Reservoir Dogs again and imagine the "new" characters filling for their Reservoir Dog ancesters. The plot and the dialog do not change that much...

Most of those grity heist films from the 1990s with ensemble casts, lots of guys with goatees, women with tattoos, and pretentious dialogue before graphic violence, with "Killing Zoe" standing out in particular.

It pains me to say this as a Francophile, but most of those wierd and depressing films that win at Cannes, that usualy have Isabelle Hubert (who I do like as an actress) in them and the plot is essentially about damaged, sad people having unpleasant looking sex and then all dying... Merci pour le Chocolate and La Pianiste come to mind here...
