Oh The Godfather, without a doubt:

Some nice pieces in that, though much of it was too seventies looking for me. Moreso the Redford run at Gatsby (though tbh, I can't stand Redford anyhow). The latest version of The Great Gatsby was a far superior film imo (despite being directed by Baz Luhrman). The wardrobe was nicer too. I loved Tom Buchanan's riding boots, and a lot of Dicaprio's clothing, though really the best wardrobe in the film was sported by Tobey Maguire.

I think it's the perfect length - about 2" above the waistband of his trousers.

I’m not a fan of Redford either. Not anymore anyway. But I liked the era and the clothes. I havent seen the new Gatsby yet but am looking forward to it.

It's not perfect, but it is a very credible attempt to bring the book to life, and Dicaprio is an infinitely superior lead to Redford who never quite 'got' the source material, imo. Daisy could have been better (I think they cast someone perhaps a year or two too young) and some of the very exact period details were off, but overall it was significantly the best of the three screen versions I've seen. Toby Maguire has the most interesting wardrobe of all the men in it.

Agree on Dicaprio - he is an actor. Loved him in "The Aviator" and thought he killed it in "Shutter Island."

And that pizza slice represents one of my favorite things about NYC. Yes, I have some incredibly great go-to pizza places (one from the 1930s still using its original brick oven), but what I really love about NYC is the pizza culture is so strong, that you can get a great slice practically anywhere.

The day I took that picture, I was out running errands, realized I was hungry, saw the place, looked in the window and saw that the slices looked awesome. I went in, ordered, sat down and snapped the picture before eating. It was as good as it looks and I've been back several times. I don't need that much in life, but access to a good pizza slice is one of the things I do need.

I believe my girlfriend bought the VHS tapes (yes, that long ago) from Masterpiece's catalogue (or maybe it was a BBC catalogue which would make more sense). I don't ever remember seeing it on TV as a listing - to your point.
