I love the well-done farces already named earlier in the thread. Blazing Saddles, Airplane, Police Story and sequels. A couple others of note are the western farce Support Your Local Sheriff with James Garner and Blake Edwards's shot at the film industry, SOB with Julie Andrews and an all-star cast. Richard Mulligan is hilarious and the scene where they steal his body and then give him a pirate's funeral is one of the funniest ever. I also love The Pink Panther movies with Peter Sellers.

Monty Python. I saw them many times as a kid and now I have the DVD box sets and still laugh and laugh about the same scenes.

The Awful Truth (1937): "And if you get bored in Oklahoma City, you can always go over to Tulsa for the weekend!"

Fletch (1985): The scene in the airplane hanger is priceless.

Deconstructing Harry (1997): "You have no values. With you its all nihilism, cynicism, sarcasm, and orgasm.
"Hey, in France I could run for office with that slogan, and win."

Lots of outstanding selections on this thread already, both vintage and contemporary...

There are more Coen Bros. films that deserve mention beyond Lebowski and Raising Arizona: The Hudsucker Proxy, O Brother Where Art Thou, A Serious Man, etc...

And what about Woody Allen? At least some of the "early funny ones"?

Oh, and my favorite recent instant-classic comedy hasn't been mentioned yet: Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, which hilariously destroys every single music-biography cliche and plot point, yet its faux-music is surprisingly good! Highly recommended.

Oh, I forgot my modern favorites: Fargo,Fight Club and Snatch. When the dog swallows the squeaker, I laughed so hard I had tears streaming down my face.

The Money Pit - classic Tom Hanks!

Arsenic and Old Lace - "Charge!"

The Pink Panther Strikes Again - The fight scene between Cato and Clousseau (among many, many other scenes!)

The 'Burbs - "Pizza dude!"

All the Thin Man flicks make me LOL. See my signature... :)

But more recent stuff, hmmm... Maybe not so recent, I guess "I'm your huckleberry." ;)

Just Imagine (1930)! El Brendel gets me every time.

Also a large assortment of 1930s and 1940s exploitation flicks make me lol

The Wedding Singer (1998). I like Adam Sandler's friend with the 'stache and the MJ jacket, the brother-in-law (best actor in the whole film!), and the Boy George dude! All make me lol The worst bits of that movie were Adam and Drew! Everything around them were hilarious, though.

Amy I'm with you on the exploitation flicks.
We're trying to get The Pace That Kills/Cocaine Fiends but I'm waiting for Amazon to ship it.
