Fade To Black (1980)

Starring Dennis Christopher as a psychotic young man obsessed with golden era films, who begins to kill his perceived oppressors while while dressed as his favorite movie characters.

Also features Linda Kerridge as a very convincing Marilyn Monroe look-alike and his object of desire.

Still one of my favorite films from the time.
