So, i know theres already a post on maxi dresses, but it isn't strictly about them. I was wondering if you could suggest some alternatives to them, you know, light and flowing and fairly long but not a maxi dress? (not a fan of having the exact same Newlook one everyone owns at the moment) and to be honest i'd rather have something that matches my 'era' a little more :)

what did they wear back then?

Thankyou! Xxx

Beach Pyjamas? They were trousers, but they were long and very, very wide so they practically were a long dress. Like these:

I love those trousers! I have been cursed from years of mockery as a child. I have what you call, "chicken legs." They are not, "oh, you're just skinny legs."
They look like two bean poles shoved under me. lol
I usually wear capris or longer shorts to cover up, but the trousers are right up my alley. I will be on the look for some considering we are headed to the beach next month.

Whirling Turban sells them and so does Ebay seller chopsueysisters.

Also, there are gaucho pants, which I've seen quite a bit in retail stores, although they tend to be low waisted [huh] Newport News does have a pair of high waisted ones, but they're corduroy:

Also from Newport News, these are a stretch poly rayon, but look at the waist on those things (oh, control panel built in!)

EDIT: does anyone here know how to get images to post from Newport News? I can never get it to work.

Thanks for the links. Those are really cute. I can use those for walking the beach and throw on a good blouse and I am ready to dive into a shrimp bar along the shore.

No more chicken legs. ;)

I agree. That red, white and blue one is adorable. I am so into Patriotic stuff right now of course.

Everyone have a safe, fun 4th. of July.

J. Peterman always has some wide-legged, classy-but-casual trousers in the ladies' department. I know it's a pricey joint, but checking the clearance and last chance offerings can turn up some sweet bargains.
