I think the Dune is more Stetson's try at making an Akubra country hat than a non-cattleman crease OR, though it has a dimensional brim, which is atypical of both styles.
True enough, but dimensional brims do show up on safari hats. The Akubra Safari has a dimensional brim according to Yates Menswear, who lists the brim as 70 x 64 mm (2.75"x2.5").

On another thread, HATCO hinted &/or entertained the idea that it might be possible to get ahold of the current model at some point in the production pre-stiffener and open crown. This sounds good to me --- any opinions from modern OR owners?

This is something I had harassed them to make earlier this year. 2 1/2" brim
didn't make it into the line...

What's the smallest order that can be placed if we had a group committed to buying that hat?

Sorry when I said multiples of 12 I didn't mean a minimum of 12. More likely the order would be more than that. The first thing you need to do is to find a retailer who would be willing to make the order. We don't sell directly to the public.

In that case, if you could settle for 2-3/8", how about a silver belly Moose River by L.L. Bean, sourced from Stetson for $99?

I had one of these & that stingy of a brim just didn't work for me. My son used it one Halloween as part of his costume & let the moths get to it in that disaster area he calls a room.
With a bound edge, 2 5/8 should be the smallest. 2 1/2 is pushing it for us larger headed folks...
