Same thing happened to my Uncle Peck Capelli. The car Uncle Peck was found in was his. A really fancy big black Packard. Wish I still had it! Peck was a driver for one of the NY "families." Of course, in the Golden Era, nobody talked, so the whole story of Uncle Peck's demise never did come out, and nobody served any time for it.

Do you know the scene in Goodfellas where all the bodies are turning up? One of them was found around the corner from my grade school. Still remember the buzz about it on the day they found it. Years later I'm talking to my mother and she tells me that she got her fur coat as the result of that Lufthansa heist (No, my family wasn't in the mob, but as Italians in Brooklyn, everyone knew someone)
