Born and raised Virginian...but The Commonwealth is part of the South, firstly (the term "Mid-Atlantic" being a more recent invention). I've lived in DC, as well, but am currently in California (which I also love)' and will probably retire to VA or NC in a few years.

I consider it the south, 'specially somewhere like Martinsville!

Not compared to South Carolina, which is where I moved from! (For one thing, it doesn't get down to 8 degrees in South Carolina.)

Interesting, I've never thought about the idea of NC being Mid-Atlantic ...

Are you old enough to remember "Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling"? I believe that was Charlotte, NC based (at least that was the home of several wrestling stars of that era).
