Welcome home, enjoy the down time. I appreciate all you and your mates have been doing over there. Highest regard for all downrange. Were you in Kandahar?

Thanks Nihil & WH1,

Most of the time I served in Kunduz (Northern part of Afghanistan).

Cheers,

Matthew

Here's myself in Brisbane Australia, back in May 1989. I was waiting for the bus back to the ship when this lady came up and started a conversation.

That's right. There were actually two sets of camouflage uniforms the Army made, one was the "Jungle suit" which were coveralls and the other was a two-piece jacket and pants. The coveralls were hated while the two-piece uniform was quite successful, but unfortunately it was never mentioned to the other units at the time that US soldiers were testing out new uniforms!

Only a handful of units were issued them, most notably the 41st Infantry Regiment of the 2nd Armored, and a few were also issued out to members of the 29th and 2nd Divisions. A few different units in the Pacific were also issued them, but photographic evidence is very scant.

Here is a picture of the coveralls (they are originals):

I'll be darned. My GI Joe back in the early 60s had that uniform. Now I know its origins.

I am reliably informed that this Aston Martin once belonged to Geoffrey Wellum. The gentleman behind the wheel is Charlie Brown whos Spitfire is in the background.

And here's my girlfriend in her USMCWR (Women Reserve) uniform.

The dress is actually from Korea, because in the WWII was a two-piece dress, but since it's hard to find we bought the Korean war dress and put original WWII buttons and chevrons on it. IMO she looks great.
