That was my immediate reaction as well. I'm looking forward to it; it's unbelievable to me how perfectly McKay maintains the real Orson Welles's vocal inflections. His "I am Orson Welles!" outburst was spectacular.

Warning - the whole movie is 31 long, but watch a bit and I'm sure it'll draw you in. It made the rounds and won some awards on the film festival circuits a few years ago.

I've read the novel on which this movie was based. It's not great literature, by any measure, but it's an entertaining enough story. It'll probably make a better picture than novel.

I think the movie's been delayed a couple of times. I'm glad it's finally coming out.

I ran across this whilst looking for some sort of decent movie to perhaps attend for Thanksgiving. But is is in *limited* release.

I hate it when they do that. And believe me, there is a dearth of material currently showing that I am will to shell out ten precious clams for....so I guess it's stay at home with classics again!

If it ever makes it to the wilderness where I live, I'll check it out.

I looked for the "Orson and Me" as well and did not find it showing any place I am close to this Thanksgiving. Guess it will be another addition to Netflicks.

This flick should be in a lot more theatres in a few weeks. I too was disappointed it was limited over Thanksgiving, but am glad it has the opportunity to expand to more theatres very soon. Not a Zac Efron fan, but I do appreciate that he jumped into a pithier role. :eusa_clap

Yet that is a still from Cobra Woman (with the luscious Maria Montez), in which Hall plays Ramu, a South Seas "native." And Hall was half Tahitian anyway lol ...

Right, in fact it was in his contract that he could not cut his hair short. One evening at an L.A. club, Weissmuller (who was born in Germany, by the way) got into a fracas with a U.S. Naval officer over the former's long hair. I don't think he let out the Tarzan yell on that occasion...

Christian McKay was wonderful playing Welles.

Yes! I saw this last night at the local artsy theater, and McKay's performance was incredible. He really nails Welles' mannerisms and voice.

Zac Efron...well, he wasn't outstanding, but he did better than I expected, and it was probably the best he could do with a necessarily melodramatic everyman character.

Me & Orson Welles - a vintage feast for the eyes!

I'm a little behind the times, but I just saw Richard Linklater's 2008 film Me & Orson Welles. It tells the story of Orson Welles trying to put on his 1937 production of Caesar.

It's a must-see for people like us: hat, suits, coats, cars, old-time radio, great period soundtrack...it's even a well-made film!

The trailers don't really do it justice though, to be honest.The trailer soundtrack in particular makes the whole thing seem more modern (and even cheesy) than the film itself actually feels.

Ran across this one today at Target. Thought I'd give it a go. I just had some time today to watch the Makings Of in the Special Features. From what I've seen McKay really nails Orson Welles, especially in the voice and inflections. The costuming looks decent and McKay's hair style as Welles matches sever photographs from that time with some of his locks falling haphazardly in his face. I'll watch the film in the next few days and give a better opinion of the story and look of the movie.
