Holly had told me in a previous e-mail that Ken said the Pioneer was not as slim fitting as the 30's HB and Dustbowl but fit more similar to the 50's HB. Maybe Holly will see this and comment. [huh]

well buddy that's what Lydia and Ken told me! And when I tried it on it did have high cut armholes - certainly they were nothing like the big ones (which I love) off the 50s HB

Correction: It was Lydia who told me that, but I think she had popped out back to check first. Anyhow, wherever this information came from, when I put it on it was borne out

The Aero web page says that the Pioneer fits closer to the 50's HB than the 30's. Suppose to be what they call a 40's style, but closer fitting to the 50's HB jacket!!

Thank you for that Pauleway!

But if y'all remember I was originally after one myself. For me, something between a 30s HB and a 50s HB would be just the ticket, especially a jacket that promised to be nearer the 50s end of that spectrum. But after driving all the way up there, looking at it, trying it on, and talking to aero about it, I had to abandon that ambition for the reasons already stated.

At the risk of repetition, the jacket I consider to fit in between a 30s and 50s HB is the original Hercules. The Pioneer I saw and tried on (and actually I think there may have been a couple) was close fitting with high cut armholes, which for me at the time was a little bit :(

Team, we are moving a little far from the original Maxwell/Teamster debate!

As for me, I'm getting pretty damn interested in the Thunder Bay. Too warm for London even at its coldest, though, I'd say.

thanks for that SJ this thunderbay comment has really dragged us back on track!

It is a beast of a jacket though. I fear I'm not yet man enough for one of those

Nah, you'd be fine, just leave the heavy jumpers at home. Think of it as a leather-clad Irvin.
