Sloan, as I recall Cooperson reported this jacket, including pictures, about three months ago. I also recall a 27.5" back on a guy about 6' tall with a long torso. Make that a very long torso. Anyhow, the pics showed what appears to be a great fit. Cooperson, if you were to make any changes, what would they be? Shorter back length? The Pioneer is at the top of my list but have been unable to make a final decision as yet.

Fanch - have to fess up, slight mis read on the tape measure, actual back is 27". Not sure if I would change much, even though it was a sale jacket and not made for me. Possibly 1" off the back, if I'm being picky, but hey, the Kudu is no more which makes it quite a rare jacket so I'll just have to live with it :)

Coop, I think you meant to say 27" back. I am 6'1" and change but have a short torso relative to my height and was thinking in terms of maybe 26.5" back for me. I knew your Pioneer was not custom fit for you but well could have been.

Apologies. Missed that one :D I will have a look at it, because for the life of me I could not work out why the 36 I tried on didn't suit/me.

Sloan, I think that the Pioneer in 36 that you tried on might have been made from what was left over from the scarred kudu that was left and maybe not as pliable as their best hides that were long gone. [huh] Was the Dustbowl that you bought a 36 or 38? In any case, I think that the Pioneer would fit more similar to a 50's Half Belt than a Dustbowl.

Here is the link to Cooperson's previous post. Just substitute 27" back fot the 27.5" posted:

It was a slim-fitting 38. I think you're right about the scarred kudu, because Cooperson's jacket's a peach. I've never been a massive fan of 'antique' effect, though I know many are.

Nope it doesn't it's much neater fitting. According to Ken it's 20s influenced, i.e. think more 30s HB than 50s

Holly had told me in a previous e-mail that Ken said the Pioneer was not as slim fitting as the 30's HB and Dustbowl but fit more similar to the 50's HB. Maybe Holly will see this and comment. [huh]
