Ok ladies, I need some help. Last week I decided to shove my jaw into the mouth of a dog. Lol ok, I was bit. I scar easily.
So, besides the big scar I'm going to have on the left side of my chin when that laceration heals completely, I'm also going to have two small marks on the right side where the teeth went all the way in and scars from the lighter "scrapes" .
I'm trying to get makeup advise for covering them up. I HATE foundation, it always feals thick to me and sheer coverage feels odd. Besides the fact that I hate having the sweaty makeup feal here in vegas.
Does anyone know of a light weight almost not there fealing makeup?
Thanks.

Mineral makeup is famous for its ability to cover scars and is the lighest-weight full coverage foundation there is. Do a search for mineral makeup, I'm pretty sure there's a thread solely dedicated to the stuff! I've covered scars with it before, works a treat.

I would also be sure to use Mederma or one of the stronger prescription scar fading creams....if you start using it early enough will probably make a huge difference in the scar and how much it needs covering up.

I second using Mederma to improve your scars and Dermablend to cover them. Mineral makeup might work if your scars are not too dark/deep. And I hope you are feeling better soon! How scary that must have been for you.

I use Benefit Erase Paste on my dark circles. I've sure it will be able to cover any scars. And it feels like I'm wearing nothing and blends beautifully into my skin tone. You can test it out at the Benefit counter at the mall if you like.

I third the prescription creams to help diminish the actual scar. To cover it, I personally love the way Colortration goes on and sets on my talent when I have to cover something up (usually birthmarks or tattoos). For $16 you get 5 vials of different shades to mix to get your perfect match. The foundation is SO concentrated, these little vials should last you quite a while.

The website is www.colortration.com. I should also mention it dries down to a very matte finish and the models I have used it on have told me it feels like there is nothing on (i.e. it's not thick and cakey like alot of the heavier cream products out there).

Keromask is also a great one. You can buy samples of it from www.camerareadycosmetics.com.

Good luck hun!

I am currently in school to be a makeup artist and I have tried several of the makeups recommended.
Dermablend will cover ANYTHING and if properly applied and set will last through anything, but I think it feels very heavy and thick.
Erasepaste is quite light and might do the trick sense it is on your face. You might give that a go.
I would recommend the Keromask from Camera Ready Cosmetics. You might pay a visit to a makeup artist to get some help if needed. I would love to help you out if I were anywhere near you. I could send you samples of Keromask and Dermablend, if you don't mind waiting for them to come from Australia?

Thanks for the tips. I have been using scar treatment, crossing my fingers that it will actuallywork this time. I've tried mederma on my legs before from, um....gravity lol accidents without much success.
People have told me its not as bad as I think, but its not their face, they're not the one living with it.

Have you also tried applying Vitamin E to the scar? It can have excellent results if you do it regularly -- one of my concession-stand kids had exactly the same thing happen to her the summer before last, and she squeezed a capsule of Vitamin E onto the scar every day for several months, and now it's almost invisible. Worth a try.

Must also recommend the unattractively named but very effective Bag Balm (sold in green cans at CVS) that is a moisturizing lotion that has antiseptic properties, that helps skin heal. It's not a concealer or makeup, and indeed it doesn't even soak in very well, so just gloop it on when you're kicking around the house. It works a trick on minimizing scarring. The less scar, the less cover-up is needed, so give it a try, I've used it with some success and I also scar easily.
