My Gannon, inspired by the classic Stratoliner.

I am quite pleased with the overall process of ordering my first Gannon bespoke fedora. Working with Michael was a simple process.

I received my hat Saturday. Shipping was prompt, 4 days. The hat was shipped in a hat box with a hat support ring and plastic wrap protectors protecting my hat. The box was clearly marked fragile on all sides.

I chose a dark brown leather sweatband for my hat. The gold embossing on the sweatband is topped off with my full name, a nice touch. I chose a brown liner, it really compliments well with the Steel felt and dark brown color of the sweatband. Its very rich to my eye.

I chose 100X beaver felt for this hat. The pouncing is nice and smooth with a good hand. The beaver felt is dense and has even gray coloring. I also chose a 4 ligne charcoal and brim binding. The color contrast is very slight between the felt and ribbon. I envisioned a cross between a classic Stratoliner and Open Road when planning this hat. Michael met and surpassed my expectations.

I asked Michael to crease the hat in a diamond, which he did to my satisfaction. After trying the hat on, the finished crown height was just to tall for me. I re-creases it with a diamond and lowered the crown.

Michael’s craftsmanship and attention to detail is outstanding. The hat is truly a work of art.

Very nice, and welcome to the Gannon club! Would you mind sharing the dimensions, please (Open Crown and brim width)?

Steven; Congrats on the glorious thin ribbon steel beaver fedora!

It really captures the eyes attention. The inspiration from the Stetson Stratoliner is clearly apparent and well executed. The 5.5" open crown is dynamite. I like that you have customized the hat with your own crown height and crease. Make it work and it will be one to easily reach for when leaving the front door.

I dare suggest that in the future try a tugboat styled diamond crease. This would have the higher front crown and slopping back dimensions that would have the benefits of a diamond on the crown and sides of the hat, while still allowing a dome in the middle of the diamond to make the top of the head have "breathing room." Who knows what crease works? Best of all, the Gannon beaver hats can easily be popped out and re creased. I have even been known to wear a Stratoliner in a classic "Open Road" cattleman's crease.

I do really like the steel gray felt and your is a dynamite take on the thin-ribbon fedora.
Wear your hat proudly. Cheers, Eric -

Yes, I use the box the hat came in.

I ask because I have a cat that chews on wool and similar materials. Been shopping for a box. She has destroyed around $300.00 worth of smart wool socks.

Been lazy about ordering my hat. Thought a Stetson Bozeman would cure the itch for awhile. (It didn’t.)
Going to be giving Mr. Gannon some money in the next few days I think.
Busy life is busy...Work, Kid, back to School. Need a new hat to make it feel better.

WOW. Look at that Covid weight...

I’ll check that out. Thank you. :)
I currently use the box the hat came in, but I don't quite like going through boxes to get the hat out and I would never throw the boxes out.

I plan on 3D printing my own hat hook similar to what you can find on Etsy Hat Hooks Wall Hat Holder 3D Printed Sustainable | Etsy I like this particular hook as it provides a radius for the sweatband to rest on, only time will tell if gravity has much of an effect on it. Most of my hats I can flip the brim up and not have to worry about taking anything out of the brim shape, so this might not be very much use on a Western hat.

Having officially reopened my inquiry with Mr. Gannon, I’ve stated my interest in Charcoal as the color instead of the Dark Moss. (My wife suggested my habit of wearing primarily OD Green shirts would cause that to look too “uniform”.) I agree. And I’m trying to pull away from that anyway.

That said, anybody feel like torturing me with pictures of your Charcoal Gannon?

I don't have a Charcoal hat in the Winchester just a sample swatch. It is a very dark grey bordering on black.

If you like earth tones give some consideration to the Granite. In the beaver felt it has strong grey tones.
