Received my first Gannon yesterday. I have to say, this is the smoothest and softest to the feel, of any hat I’ve put my grubby hands on! It’s absolutely amazing. Some of the pics show it a bit lighter color, I think the last one may be closest. It is a dark brown 100% beaver, with the copper ribbon. Full 6 inch crown and a 3 and 3/4 inch brim with slight curl on the edge. Not sure what, if any, crease I will put in it. I have several ideas but admit I like the look of this one open crown.

Michael recently told me he was having a problem with his sewing machine. I’m thinking my next hat should be ready in just a few weeks!

Well, I’m not gonna hold him to the date. I look at it as a ballpark thing anyway. Machines can be finicky!

Several years ago I wanted a blue hat, so I ordered this. When it came, I found that we ( the hat and I) could not agree on a bash. Things either didn’t look right to me or the hat would push them out. It spent its time in the box until the other day when I pulled it out and just started pushing the felt around. This is what the hat wants and I’m ok with it, so now I’m wearing regularly.

Thank you kind sir, and no apologies necessary. I have put a few dry creases to see what I might like, and none have grabbed me just yet. I may just put a center dent and let it go, or just leave it open. The more I look at it, the better I like it open crown. But if I ever decide on a crease, I will certainly share here.

Thanks Eric. I think of the Highwayman as being in the style of a 1920's - 1930's Western dress hat. Unfortunately there aren't many more options over what I have for a vintage color.

I tend to wear dark hats in the dark days of winter. So, ''tis the season now.

Yes I have one in Natural too. I would order another one if it was in what I would call a vintage color of the day. The only change I had Michael make is the ribbon. He normally uses an OR style ribbon with a campaign bow. I prefer the 13/16 ribbon. It’s a 3x6 body. I like the style of that era a lot.

I think the slightly wider ribbon changes the entire look. I really dig it.

Beautiful hat, Jack. The more mid-ribbon and the shallow flanged brim are great choices.
