Michael sent me some samples so I'll be able to choose and start the process, although if the color of the felt varies (which is normal since it is natural materials) then chances are that the colors I'm deciding on may vary anyway and the colour name isn't as important as in real life which I can't see.

I'm basically deciding on any of the hat colors on the top right for my hat. It's a tough call.

I can appreciate your wanting to get an exact color match. We all srive for that just-right color...then we spend 10 times that amount of time trying to figure out a complementay ribbon color! Using any kind of color chart or photo series is going to present challenges. No offense but I'd suggest that you go to a local hat shop, western wear store, etc and see at least some of the colors in person. It will be fun and even if it is not an exact match, you'll have a much better idea of what you are getting.

I posted this in "What Hat Are you Wearing" because, well, I'm wearing it today, but have been told that it should go here, too. Here goes: I received my (very early) birthday and Christmas present yesterday: this whiskey-colored beauty from Gannon. I couldn't be happier with the hat or with the process leading up to it. I doubt this will surprise anyone, but Michael was wonderful to work with.

Is that a purple lining?? It's beautiful! I don't think he has that anymore

one thing that influenced my decision is that, relative to the other light shades, silver mist has a cooler undertone (to my eye anyway).

Natural is a nice shade too, but tends to be a little darker IRL than that picture in full sun.

Thanks Eric. The pin really did come from a unique time in US history (not to mention a phenomenal time for fedoras). I've had it for a while but until this morning couldn't figure out how to attach it without poking a hole through anything. It's likely going to move to my second Gannon, a steel grey.
how did you do that? I have a few pins with the regular backing I'd love to attach to my hats but haven't figured out how. I figured I could somehow cut the pins with sharp pliers with the shears, and then perhaps buy something like this

ya I might just go with Silver Mist, need to see the samples which I hope to get this week. It seems to be an off white type of colour but cooler tones.

Sahara is a nice warm color. I find it easy to wear. Silvermist is nice, but it sometimes comes off as more white than I personally like; bone is a different shade, but also very white. I avoided a silverbelly fedora for a long time because I have so many western hats in the color, but somehow it’s different as a fedora. I think silverbelly is one of the most versatile of the of the light colors, and if you want something a bit darker then Sahara is also a favorite.

Jesse, were I a betting man, I would be putting one down on sand, sahara, or, if still available, Mohave as the felt color you're seeking. From every photo you've posted of the lady in that hat (which I've viewed on four different screens, now) I'm convinced it's one of those three. Good luck!

BTW, remind me to tell you about when Celine Dion bought my lunch in her deli, Schwartz's, in Montreal two years ago!

Looking forward to a Gannon Sahara real soon myself. Looking good, Brent.

Very nice, TJ. I have a couple of felts with burgundy ribbons and the burgundy really seems to match well with a lot of felt colors I've seen here on the Lounge.
Thank you buddy. Yeah, I was really surprised at how versatile a Burgundy ribbon can be. I think it would make a nice muted compliment against a black hat, and would probably go well with certain shades of grey.

Got my swatches from Michael. I think I may go with the silvermist to change up my collection, it's that or the silverbelly (his silverbelly is a lot more cool toned)

In the end, it doesn’t really matter as it’s only a matter of time before you own one in each. ;)

Silvermist (pictured below) is certainly a more "brilliant whitish-blue" hued felt. I find the felt to really pop when worn. JJ if you have some attire you wish to coordinate with ask Michael's opinion.

Either choice is grand.
