Good morning. I would like to share some block pics that Michael forwarded to me yesterday.

A Gannon Executive.
So darn cool - gills.

i-xsGh4T8-M.jpg

I like many others have asked Mr.Gannon to work up some different variations. His tackling gill ribbon work has commenced. The hat I asked to take inspiration from the vtg. Adams Pacesetter (Executive quality) that I have a couple colors of felt in. This hat was of the first couple hats I owned and started me to loving hats. I admit I have a preference for the gill as it can add a subtle eye appeal. I wear the Adams hats frequently and post them as being called "Executive." Love the idea. I have always been worried that I will love these hats to death by wearing them out.

Below is a pic showing some of the Adam gilled hats (a couple others got stacked in the pic). The pic colors are terribly over exposed so that the color variations do not show. This stack is of hats silver belly thru buckskin color like shades. The brown gilled hats did not photo well at all in the indoor light. The gill work of this model had 7 or 5 gills. Starting gill was consistently bigger than the following. I asked for a 5 gill as I wanted to show respect to Mr.Gannon on his "gill adventure."

The choice of a moss felt is perfect for me. I find this winchester color felt to be easy to grab. It pairs with lots of clothes. Works in the city/country settings I find myself in. Pic of moss green Wanderer (and charcoal) below.

The felt characteristics of each color of winchester felt is very different. I have found the felt characteristics to be consistent per color. Moss is dense, but malleable, pouncing can change the hand feel, takes and keeps the flange memory well. The moss hats I have have taken a whooping in weather and really show nary a lasting mark.

A new change on this hat is the gray leather sweat. When you turn the hat over in your hnd, just wait til the gray sweat catches your eye!

New hat day coming in the next week. Excited!

Thanks for letting me share my excitement for a new hat day. Best wishes, Eric -

Eric, you bum! I tried to talk Mr. Gannon into shark gills on my last two hats, but couldn't get him to do it. Glad he's finally willing to do it. He'd said he hadn't practiced them enough - this was ~8-9 months ago.

Excellent collection of Adams, as well. I only have one, and it's a beater. I believe "Executive" is a quality designation for Adam hats.

Classy Executive, Eric! Michael has knocked another home run right out of the park! It took awhile, but I have also warmed up to the shark's gill ribbon treatment. Understated elegance personified!

Thanks. Excellent is exacty a quality designation. The Adams thread has some great documentation by "Billy." (I believe his Adam's website is still up and active.) Great hats for a modest price in their day.

Thanks, I imagine you will see it quite often in the Wearing thread.

Thanks sir. For me once I got used to seeing images or reflections of me in a hat, I quickly got to appreciate the gill look.

Thanks again. Best to all owners and future owners of Gannon Hats, Eric -

The bone felt is silver mist-esque pounced light in its weight and feel. IMO, better than silver mist felt for taking the unique angles in many of my desired creases. Bone has been a pleasant surprise as I find myself reaching for it with all of my casual attire.

Mike, you wear more dress, by your pics, but the casual would have bone. Very cool bone and a "sage" ribbon. Dang that would be spectacular.
Michael just sent me a gorgeous Pecan with double Bow...it is sitting in El Paso waiting for my customs broker to get back from his summer vacation !!
