So my Gannon arrived today. I love it. The moss green looks spectacular in person. I’m happy with the choice on the Cactus ribbon. It fits like a glove. I can’t find anything that isn’t extremely well executed.

The felt has a nice hand and it’s surprisingly soft. I’m pretty certain I will be getting back on his list within a few days [emoji1]

Very nice Justin. I wasn't sure what color Cactus was but it looks good against the Moss. Great style; enjoy!

A few months back I bought this chocolate dark brown Gannon from a fellow Lounger. It was virtually brand new & came to me in a diamond crease with a snap brim. Standard dress weight beaver now called 100X,
2 3/4” BE brim with thin ribbon x 6” open crown. Mushroom colored sweat & black liner.

Because it was Spring at the time i put it aside until Fall & I had time to make it my own. The brim ironed out nicely. The crown is a bit stiffer than other Gannon's I have handled, I'm not yet satisfied with the bigger teardrop dents I have put in the pinch, so I'll probably have another go at those before I'm thru. Overall hat quality is excellent.

Nice work on the brim Jack. The thin ribbon brown should be an easy hat to reach for and wear.

This morning found me wearing a Gannon also. Bone felt for a Saturday.

Thanks Scooterz. Tried it out but decided to wear a derby later to World Beard Day festivities at the club.

Looks great jack. It’s a perfect shade of brown IMO. I like the simple crease. Where you able to iron out a bit of the flange?

I love my new Gannon but it has a bit more flange than I anticipated. Wondering if I can flatten the brim just a touch.

Thanks Justin. There's plenty of posts on the different methods posters use to iron so I won't bother with all that again. I don't like the cup or bowl look you get with the flange for a snap brim turned up. With a bound edge brim you can move the cup around some by ironing but you won't be able to iron it totally flat.

In the dark brown hat I wanted a vintage dress Western look so I worked to move the cup of the flange out to the edge of the sides giving the appearance of a small fender roll, leaving the front & back brim pretty neutral. If I can get the bigger teardrop dents in the pinch smoothed out I will be happy.

With the natural colored hat that came in the same purchase I worked to iron the cup of the flange from the break outward to the edge of the binding all the way around. That eliminated the bowl look from the flange & gives the impression of a slight curl around the binding instead. It's just a subtle difference.

Randy just brought this to my attention: Gannon offers western weight hats in nutria. Is this new? I don’t recall seeing this option before. Same price as beaver. Hmmmm.

He had just added them when I placed my order which was about 1 month ago. When I first started speaking with him he hadn’t added them to his site yet. Michael is very forthright so he would most likely reveal the felt source if asked.

I’m looking forward to seeing some photos. Interesting color names...could really be something.

It would be nice if Michael could make an appearance and bring us up to date.

Playa = Beach, so I'm guessing Sand as the color. Hello south american felt!

anyone know what grit of sandpaper(s) he uses? I wrote him twice recently (a few weeks after getting my hat) and he has not responded, which is odd of him.
