I just received a whiskey-colored beaver felt Gannon, with antique copper ribbon. It took Michael a little while to find a dress-weight body to accommodate my request for a 3" brim and 5" as-creased crown, but he kept me in mind and finally came up with a body that would work. The hat was worth the wait! Great fit, very comfortable, and exactly as I specified. Needless to say, I am very pleased with this hat. Michael is a great guy to deal with and does fine work.

Hope y'all have a great day!

Good color combination. The copper ribbon is popping.

Congrats! It’s a great looking hat. I like the contrast of the ribbon and the proportions are perfect. Well-done.

Beautiful hat Regan and it looks great on you. The boots are pretty kick ass, too.

Congrats sir! Lovely hat. The dimensions suit you well.

I was inspired by your post to pull out my Gannon in whiskey and am wearing it about.

Thanks for sharing your wonderful new fedora. Best, Eric -

Thank you very much for all the "likes" and kind compliments, friends. I don't post my hats to say, "Look at me, see what I've got!", but to share what I like so others can see what's available out there, just as I have learned what options I had from reading all y'all's posts here over the last couple of years. The sharing that is so common here on the Lounge has been so helpful to me, and I can tell nobody here is putting on airs or bragging. With that said, all the credit goes to Michael for the fine craftsmanship - that's what makes the hat special!

Great dimensions. The whiskey brings out the color in your beard. Looks good man.
Wear it in good health
Johnny

Thank you, Johnny. Unfortunately the beard is temporary; I am off from work for a few weeks and have to shave it again when I go back to work.

Great hat. Your pics capture the color shift of the whiskey felt pretty well, too--from the bright, sort of caramel-brown, to darker, to olive. My whiskey Gannon shifts in a similar way. It can be tricky to photograph.

Thank you! Yes, the color is really variable, and I was a little scared of it because it looks so yellow in some photos. But I love the color in person - I am glad I chose it for this hat.

Good color combination. The copper ribbon is popping.

Thanks Bill! It was one of your hats with this same ribbon, a few pages back, that inspired this one. I see that you like the tall, wide hats too!

Congrats on a great hat, Regan! @Woodtroll

Thank you! Michael makes a really fine hat.

Congrats! It’s a great looking hat. I like the contrast of the ribbon and the proportions are perfect. Well-done.

Thank you, Brent. The colors weren't an original idea, like many of you I steal shamelessly from the hats other folks post here. But your comments make me feel like I have reasonably good taste, at least. ;)

Beautiful hat Regan and it looks great on you. The boots are pretty kick ass, too.

Thanks, Rick, I appreciate that. The boots were just a prop to try to bring out the brown color, but they have been handy lately. I haven't worn any slip-on boots in years; my normal boots are lace-up loggers. Black at work (because they have to be!), brown at home. But with recent surgery and not being able to tie my own shoes for a while, I bought these boots thinking they would come in handy. Turns out, I really like them!

Congrats sir! Lovely hat. The dimensions suit you well.

Thanks, Eric! Like many others here, your fine-looking Gannons inspired me to contact Michael.

Thanks again, everyone! Y'all take care,
Regan

I always keep on the look out for that "chicago typewriter" case to be under your arm....LOL I think your overall sense of clothing and what works sure reminds me of Daniel and how he also would gather up his clothing to wear as a real statement. Well dressed and well prepared to do what ever needed to be done...and all with class!

Good day Cindy. Thanks for the kind words. I see your recent posts on the forum and am fondly reminded of Daniel. I tip my hat brim this afternoon to you and my memories of Daniel.

As to the typwritter - yes my Dad had a big black Chicago in his study. I did have to type papers with carbon paper on that machine. I recall being amazed and pleased at how they looked when they were finished. As to the process, what slow and deliberate effort they took. I am sooooo pleased with modern laptops.

Good to hear from you. Be well. Eric -

Hello back to you...Yeah I was teasing about the typewriter remark....not what one would "type" with...haha BUT you are one of the most well dressed fellows which always does remind me of Daniel. Always dressed up before going anywhere even to the grocery store.

GOODGODIGOTAGANNON!

My first Gannon and it is amazing. A Granite body, bound brim, and a Slate ribbon. The medium gray is just what I was looking for; lighter outdoors in daylight and darker (more formal) in the shade. Fit and finish are superb. Size is spot-on (I’m one of those “tweens). It is a 4 ½ finished teardrop with a 2 3/8 brim and 1 ½ ribbon. The Slate is a funny beast, a definite purple cast along the top and bottom edges but fades to gray along the center (at least, against a gray body). Michael worked with me on every decision (and the hundreds of questions and “what if’s” before he got started). I had the chance to visit Optimo earlier this year (sorry, I can’t afford those!) and sent him a link to their Chicago model. He nailed it! A compact hat with a short brim (not stingy) was exactly what I wanted this hat to be. I have only been wearing my new hat a couple of hours but I am sold on Gannon hats. Definitely a “looker and keeper” and one my kids or grandkids will inherit. Thanks Michael!

I betcha you would be hard pressed to discern any difference between an Optimo and a Gannon.
