M-1941 1st Pattern Field Jacket Repro

Does anyone know who makes the reproduction 1st pattern M-1941 Field Jackets and "At The Front" doesn't have them anymore? Thanks Mike

I wonder if a good tailor couldn't modify one of the reproduction M1941s to suit your needs.

If you're talking about the 1st pattern M-41 with pocket flaps (nicknamed the Parsons' jacket) then At The Front brings them to events and puts them on their clearance rack. Right now I don't see them on their website under the closeout items. They were pretty cheap at the Battle of the Bulge event at Ft. Indiantown Gap, PA and at the Reading, PA WWII Weekend because no one seemed to want them. I'll be at FIG the last weekend in January and can check on them if you like. I could call you from my cell phone from the eight buildings of vendors when I find ATF and tell you if he has them, what sizes are available, and get you one.

Thanks Jedburgh I heard just the other day that what I could be looking for was a 1st pattern M-41 instead of the M-38. Thanks for the info and the offer and what I'll do is email and or call At The Front myself and see what they do have left and that way if they have them and I buy one and it doesn't fit I can always send it back. The ATF website indicates the 'parsons' jkt will be back in stock in March.

I agree. There's a reason everyone makes a M42 jump suit but hardly anyone makes a good pre-war Campaign ("Smokey bear") hat. Re-enacting WW2 is all about Normandy, the "Band of Brothers" E/506 and later war stuff. People keep thinking that USMC stuff will explode in popularity each time a new book or movie comes out but I don't see that happening. Without Germans, you don't have too many "bad guys" to do events with and hardly anyone wants to portray Imperial Japanese forces, at least not nearly as many that want to wear the German stuff.
I'd also love to find a good early Parsons jacket myself but there's really no big market for that kind of thing.
I'm pretty confused why What Price Glory is making all that pre-WW1 stuff, I never would have thought there would be a market for that, except among the cowboy shooters as they have recently gotten into the "Wild Bunch" movie stuff and pre-WW1 cavalry stuff is getting popular for that group.

I love that stuff. I've always been fascinated by the WWI-meets-Old-West aspect of the Punitive Expedition. Any details on what events and groups of cowboy action shooters are doing this, and how?

New Stuff at the Gap
Should make it: Catalogs, Garrison Caps, Mackinaws, new generation Tankers, Wool britches, and maybe, JUST MAYBE a few Service Coats.
Will probably NOT make it in time: New boots (probably will arrive around 1 February), new M42 paratroopers (March), new M41's & Parson's (March), and 44 Dot (March- although we may have a handful of pre-production "guinea pig" sets). Service Coats are going to be by the skin of our teeth one way or the other. Just in the nick of time or a day late and a dollar short...
As yet unknown, too close to call: German knit shirts and German gloves.

Not stocking anymore M-41 jackets????
FYI, there was an older M41 paratrooper jacket that they once made. The person you spoke to may have thought you were referring to that.

ATF is definitely stocking more M41 field jackets. But the model youre looking for is the Parson's jkt which has flaps on the pockets.

Parsons jacket

I have one of the ATF parson's jackets and they are nicely made. Contact Rollin and see if they may make them again. IF not, George Petersen at National Capital Historical Sales, Inc. in Virginia has the ETO jacket that is close; it's a m1941 field jacket in gabardine for officers, has slit pockets where the Parson's has flapped pockets.

All World War II reenactor (except for Airborne units) start out with and require a M41 Jacket. The issue was at the beginining there were two designs up for consideration. Both got the M41 designation. The Parson version didn't get the numbers so the other version became the defacto M41. All the major repro vendors sell M41 just not the Parson style.

There was a post from a long while back that I remember where the author posted detailed pictures of the differences in the Parson jacket (M1938?) and the M1941 jacket. Does anyone else remember this? Anyone have pics of these jackets being worn - I guess I could go watch an old movie but you know what I mean
