Mmm. Having once been on the point of going into production* with a repro M-1941 and having studied as many originals as we could in the process, I'm less than impressed, going by the photographs.

I go along with the OD#3 colour and tone (assuming a good representation on my monitor) but the cut seems off - the lapels seem too rounded, for instance. To be fair, ATF do make the point that production versions will be corrected in this regard. I salute the companies desire for improvement.

I also think the M-1938 version is to be welcomed. Just my opinion, of course.

* I have just sent one of our first pre-production jackets to Speedster - we'll see if he likes it whan it arrives.

I personally think the new ATF one looks great, and I'm no purest and actually prefer the rounded lapels but whatever, that's no biggy. I think the color is great too and I'm happy to see the chocolate brown buttons and talon zipper. I'm definately gonna put one of those on my list.

Should be with you by the week-end.

In the meantime - here's a couple of shots. The M-1941 is a rather simple jacket to make up, and IMO anyone with access to an original or good copy and reasonable pattern-making and machining skills (and, f course, good material sourcing aptitude) can make a replica that is at last as good (or better) than most of those on the market now. Just my opinion.
