Master Hatters. They make nice western hats at low prices.

Wow......Has to be the finest liner I have ever seen! Magnificent hat, sir!

My gripe with hats is that most of the hats with these exquisite liners are ancient, late Victorian/Edwardian formal hats like bowlers, homburgs, and toppers that just can't be worn regularly in most environments. I could only dream of having a versatile city hat like a Whippet with this kind of craftsmanship in the liner.

Thanks! In the same time period you will see Soft Felts with similar liners but probably not with as elaborate stamped gold foil. The top of the liner is not under stress in a Stiff Felt Hat or Top Hat.

Here is a JHS Soft Felt (an amazing hat) from probably about the same time period and you can see that the gold foil has started to come off from wear / stress. It's not as elaborate but I am sure it was more striking when it was new.

I believe that high quality soft felt hats of the period may have liners that have similar artistry....But you'd sure be hard-pressed to find a hat liner like that in late 30's-and-beyond hats. They're all white! I need a bright, pleated, embroidered royal purple liner in my hat!

Yes you see a drop even at the highest end as you get into the 1930s. Here is a nice one from the late 1920s.
