Heartbreaking, my condolences. I hope that you have many photos of Assi that you can look back on. It's never easy. My wife keeps all of our pets name tags, that they wore on the collar, on her key ring. Every single one is a happy reminder of a special friend. Thinking of you and your loss.

Thank you very much for the kind words. We do the same thing and keep all of the name tags too.

Very sorry to hear this. When we lose humans, there are all sorts of social rituals which are design to help us through it; less so with pets, even though they can be just as important. All you can do is give them the best life you can. and when it's their time to go, remember and hold on to the good memories of what you had.

Thank you Edward, that is exactly what we do, it is now the memories that count.

View attachment 107522 View attachment 107522 Well the house was just plain empty after Assi left us 3 weeks ago. Over the last few years we have always had at least two dogs so when one departed one was still there to comfort us. Not the case this time.

Introducing Gerti, a Corgi mix.
Gerti is a pretty dog! I hope you will be comforting to each other. Dogs are the most loving, loyal creatures in this world.

This was Auggie.
We got him from a shelter in Louisville and two years later he moved with us to Georgia. After 9 years in Macon we all returned home to Kentucky and he lived to be 15.
All the dogs I’ve had in my life have been special in one way or another. This picture of Aug has always been one of my favorites, he looked pretty tough but he was a great friend.

Twelve years ago “Persia” arrived with her brother “Mr. Meepers” as orphan kittens for my oldest daughter to raise. After a hard year of injury and illness “Persia” was laid to rest this morning. She was a good kitty.

I know little about cats or their life expectancy but I'm sorry to hear this Bob, for your daughter & your family. Mr. Meepers should receive the benefit of everyone's love now.

About 3 years ago a cat showed up here looking like it was starving to death. I couldn't get closer than 3 feet to it, but I felt sorry for it and went and bought some cat food. Within 2 years that cat and her offspring had blessed me with about 18 cats that I couldn't touch. They were all wild. My neighbors got to complaining and I set some traps and carried 4 of them to the animal shelter. I had plans to take them all there. They asked me when I wanted to pick them up after they fixed them. I told them I didn't want them back. They told me I had to take them back or they would return them to me. I didn't go back after them. But I noticed they reappeared here. Neighbors still complaining and I told them I didn't know how to get rid of them but I had quit feeding them and maybe they would leave on their own. After a year of not feeding them there are still 5 hanging around here. I have developed a dislike for cats from that experience.

So sorry to hear of your loss Bob. I hope your daughter is taking it ok. My cat Cletus was an abandoned kitten that showed up at my daughter's apartment. It was very cold and he was just skin and bones. He is a good friend. Your daughter gave Persia a good life she may not have had otherwise.
