Well I guess I could spend a moment with pointless responses:
@jlee562 24kt Gold is the purity standard that the Gold Spot price is calculated.
Good grief. You come here with absolute garbage posted as fact and then attack those who actually know something as illegitimate, irrelevant and pointless? Screw off. Just because you post something does not establish a precedent for validity.

Go and do your own damn research. Read the ~350 pages of the Borsalino Brotherhood thread, like @jlee562 told you, and learn something. LOL is the only response to the ludicrous drivel you've been posting.

@jlee562 You also have to consider the factors that our two products are completely different forms of hat wear, and the vastly different conditions they are in.
So, I see how a $300-$400 valuation for yours is very credible.
And the hat model and manufacturing designation due in fact correllate to a higher price premium.
I do not see an Antica Casa 1857 designation on your head wear, or any 14kt gold enlays either.
The head wear that I have is completely different style, Alessandra, Antica Casa 1857 Fondata NEL, with 14KT gold (inlcuding the hat size label), The hats composition is not just Fur Felt, It also has high quality, hand-stitched leather rim, and is Mint condition with untouched tags, and has been kept in climate controlled conditions, and unworn....

I competely agree that I have no idea what the true age off the hat is, but all other variables including the extremely high popularity and demand for this style value it at the upper echelon, regardless of the year of manufacturing.
All wrong again.

Worn vintage hats in good condition hold value. Modern hats do not. The quality is not even comparable.

well, if you head on over to the Borsalino Brotherhood thread, you can see all the pictures of my hat.

Fwiw:

...because, as I said, that's in EVERY Borsalino hat.

your hat has a leather sweatband, like most hats do. If you think that's 14k gold, I have a bridge to sell you.

All I know is that its mint condition which would blow my mind in regards to the aging well.
Still The Condition of the hat, the level of the hat, and the Antica Casa 1857, and The Alessandria edition still puts the hat in the two highest valued, most limited edition classes that Barsolina has....
Um, no.

I have a pair of Levi's that say 1873 on the logo. Do you think they're 145 years old?

Wanna give me $2,000 for 'em?

Sent directly from my mind to yours.

that is the same hat in both threads? If so, I apologize as the first picture like a completely differet headwear. Your Antica and other lettering is not 14K gold?
You didn't get a certificate authenticating this?
I did, that is why I said it.
Just out of curiousity; your Antica Casa is the not Italian manufacturer, Otherwise you would have the Made in Italy right above the the Italian Trademark at the end of the Borsalina.

Greetings Everyone,
I am literally brand new. I just registered 10 minutes ago and this is my first post.
I have been searching around trying to learn about the Borsalino hat my grandpa gave me before he passed.
It is Black Antica Casa 1857 nel Alessandria SOAVE nettuno
It is still Mint Condition; Never worn; with original tags, box, and plastic wrapping.
I am attaching as many picture as I can to the post.
I would appreciate any assistance/information/etc about this hat. I have been not been able to find anything about this hat to truly understand its history and signifance.

Thank you all very much,
B Ness
I have a Borsalino from the late 1980's that looks remarkably similar to this one. It matches especially the black leather sweat and what looks to me to be the sizing label on the sweat. I like mine, it is a nice hat, decent felt for a modern Borsa but nothing remarkable about the hat. I picked it up from a seller on Etsy, paid $135 which is a fair price perhaps a bit on the high side for a nothing special used Borsa.

@belfastboy Would you mind sending some picture of the hat? I am just trying to figure it all out, so anyting that could be used to reference against helps.

@jlee562 These hats have so many variables. That is cool though; your hat is the Borsa/Antica Grand Prix Paris edition. One more tidbit learned.
