Looking for a Duffel bag

My gym bag is starting to fall apart so I'm in need of a new one. I have gotten into the leather/selvedge game after purchasing the last one so I think the new one should be something well made and long lasting. First choice would be leather, but I would also consider denim and canvas.

I think Rothco makes three different sizes of canvas parachute bags that are essentially duffel bags. I've been meaning to pick one up myself. These might not be the best prices, so do a better search if you fancy one.

Since you are in Europe, lake a look at second hand Goldpfeil bags on the bay. They did make duffel bags and their quality & finishing are very good.

I have saddleback. It is nice and heavy but not very handy. It take a lot of time to operate the heavy buckles.
For a gym bag or something I need to get in and out of quickly and move on to the task at hand I would go for textile. And it is easier to stash out of the way.
Red Oxx railroad duffle would be my first choice.

The current favorites are Filson, Nutsac and Cravar. Only came upon Cravar yesterday but leaning towards that one. It has a separate laptop pocket which will be very useful since I take my laptop to work every day. The only thing holding me back is I can't find any reviews for that bag. Filson is aesthetically most pleasing, but the most expensive and doesn't do much in terms of compartments. Nutsac ticks many boxes but might be just a little too small.

You asked about a gym bag. That is usually towel, work out clothes, water bottles, energy snacks, gloves, lifting straps, workout shoes, deodorant. I would never put a laptop in a bag with those things. Did you switch from lookin for a gym bag to an office bag? I missed that.

You're right, I did ask for a gym bag since that's what I've been using so far. I have my gym stuff, my laptop and daily food all in one bag when I leave home in the morning. I didn't really think about the need for a laptop pocket before since I don't have it in my current bag. It's not a necessity, but might make life easier.

Interesting. My laptop, work or personal never goes in my gym bag for any reason, also possibly due to having a 4" wide 13mm thick Pioneer lifting belt in that specific bag.

My Gym bag is an Adidas textile bag from TJ Maxx (a discount chain in the US). It was ~ $15 6 years back and has a partially failed zipper (one side does not open any longer.). Still works fine for my daily needs.

My laptops each have a Swiss Army brand textile backpack they live in. Nothing fancy or expensive needed for those tasks in my world.

The gym stuff should not be in the same bag as your daily food.
Your food and drinks for the day should not be in the same bag as electronics.
So you need three separate ways to contain these items.
One bag for electronics, notebook, chargers, books, pens pencils...
One for the stinky gym stuff.
And one to keep your food from being crushed, contaminated or leaking and damaging valuable electronics and chargers.

If you are in Europe then keep your eye on eBay for "The Bridge" large holdalls. The new price is scary but they can be had used in excellent condition for reasonable money. They are not all the same size. I have a black one that is carry on (EU Carry On) (just) and a brown one (classic The Bridge brown) that is larger. For a feel for the size I can get both (again 'just') into a Porsche 911 Front Trunk. Personally I think that the one linked is overpriced. Note also that the strap pulls all the way across, bringing the ' ears' to lie on the top surface of the bag when closed. They are not really a shoulder carry bag - usually carried by the handles. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/13515839...Q6nx6PFrHuTOc5PhQUUt5v3w==|tkp:Bk9SR_Ce8KyRZQ

tThanks for all the advice. I decided to go with the Cravar Waxed Twill Duffle. In the end it seemed like the best compromise. Close contenders were Filson which I think looks the best, but doesn't have any compartments and is twice the price. And the Nutsac Duffle which is very clever and looks good, but I think might be a bit too small for my needs. Cravar bag looks good, is half the price as the others and the owner Yoki was very helpful in answering my questions and being a small business owner myself I kinda dig him. I'll post some pictures once it arrives.
