Stumbled upon this on Mr Porter, among a collection of supposedly the best leather jackets in the world -- most of which I thought boring or hideous, and few under £1,000.

This, however, is pretty nice. Only distressed leather I've ever found convincing. Closely resembles Aero's 30s halfbelt once it's been kicked around a bit. (In fact, didn't Aero used to make vintage jackets for Levi's?)

Aero have made clothes for LVC in the past, but this is more modern production.

There was one of these (brand new) on Ebay recently, for, if I remember rightly, around £390.

It's a nice design, but I don't care for the leather. Too bad they couldn't just make an honest jacket and leave it to their customers to break it in. Distressing a jacket not only looks silly, it takes years off its useful life. I'd also note for anyone wanting to buy one that they are sized big. The same is true of my LVC 1936 jacket. The XL is like an XXL.

I agree. There's something dishonest about pre-distressed jackets. One wonder whether Aero's vintage leather falls into that category, though.

I do like the front pockets on the Levi's.

nice design, but obviously it's for the 'I want that vintage look and I want it right now' crowd who'll buy it and then get another one next season. This jacket in a nice goatskin or dark FQHH would be tasty
