This is my favorite field jacket style! A few years back I found a copy at Target and snapped it right up. It was on sale and an awful color, but I dyed it. The buttons make it so great IMO.
It's my favorite to, the lapels, buttons and buttoned sleeve makes it really nice. The thing with the sleeves is what I really like about both M-1943 and M-1951. In the M-1965 the sleeves are foldable and attached with velcro instead of buttons, making it a bit bulky.

Incidentally, am I correct about the Scovill zip, or is it later?

Congrats to your wonderful authentic '44 N1 you got! Thanks for the nice fotos of it, as well! The ones I saw were so battered that they were hardly in wearable condition. I currently own one khaki one and one navy blue (the intermediate version with the bold lettered reflective U.S.Navy stencil across the back, which came up for only a very short time previous to your issued one). Both replica. Will let go of the khaki one, soon, though.
I personally have never seen an original in such a perfect condition like yours! Take well care of it! I will not ask you what you paid for it. I don't wanna cry.
You are in very good company here on the lounge with your love for the N1, as you already have seen. Would make a nice pile if we 'd throw all our N1s on a stack!

Bra Jacka! Tack för de fina bilderna! Ha det bra!

Really great jackets. Currently a lot of options out there. Many people have written in asking questions about fit. It seems they want a trim modeling cut. I like the intended fit because it easily accommodates several layers. Last winter it was my go to (layered) down to 20f. Without layers 35 to 50 and windy/overcast is a nice broad range for these parts.
I agree completely. For me, these jackets just do not look right in a trim fit - I suppose that is because I see its function limited by such form. Anyways, no matter how you like the fit, you can't help but universally enjoy such a timeless classic! (My Bronson N-1, perfect fit for me.)

course they do........wear 'em however you like........of course it depend on your build....I'm a skinny guy, an N1 cut like a Pike Bros would swamp me........I have an RMC N1 that both trim fit and too small and while its not exactly comfortable to wear, it looks great! So if anyone out there wants to swap a 38 for a 40 hit me up.......! I'll post some pics mañana

Fixed your incomplete quote of my post. Otherwise, of course, "wear 'em however you like...."

I am lucky to have found a size which is both, looking good on me and wearable in a practical sense of words.
I only wear thin layers under any jacket I own, mostly merino wool and synthetics. More freedom of movement and easier to adapt. None of my N1s are trim or snug, but neither are they saggy. My biggest issue with Deck Jackets was always sleeve length. Solved, since I moved the hidden cuffs lower on one of my N1s (hell of a work) and kicked them out altogether on the other. I don't like the sleeves of my jackets to cover my hands or half of them. When my hands are cold, I wear gloves. But this is just my personal preferance.

Thank you very much for your cool reply. Do you have any pictures? The blue one is so nice and it's a serious sign of an enthusiast. Conversation piece!

I did pay for sure pay a high price for this one but I still think it was a bargain. The price isn't everything and I need to follow my heart for satisfaction. High end pieces like this tend to make my wardrobe smaller, which makes less expensive in the long run, "Buy the best you can get", as G. Bruce Boyer use to say.

I have worn a lot until recently for one simple reason: it's to cold outside. This morning the temperature dropped as low as - 18 deegres.

It's nice to see that this thread is alive. Have a nice weekend!

I have an Ironheart in a XXL that fit's perfectly for me. I'm usually a 46 in most of my jackets, I find my leather Ironheart trucker in an XL fits very trim. The deck jacket fits great, it's just that it's a pretty warm coat so unless the weather is below freezing I don't really wear it.
