Thanks! It's a 16-size with a 7-jewel movement. The watchmaker had to do a fair amount of work to this watch...

Case-polish.
Dial-clean.
Crystal-clean.
Clean, oil, regulate.
Hammer in a case-hinge.

I reckon he did a pretty good job

Bulova

Anyone out there tell me anything about this one?

Here is a little trick to know the date of manufacture of your Bulova:
On the back of the case you will find a letter and a number.
A9 = 1949 (first time a date was written on the case).
L0 à L9 : years 50.
M0 à M9 : years 60.
N0 à N9 : years 70.

IE, L3 represents 1953, M7 represents 1967, N0 represents 1970.

That was some buy - sometimes one is just lucky. I have done the same thing with cufflinks and tiebars a few times, half of the times I got something really good.

I believe that the Elgin with the blue crystal is a ladies watch, not mainly because og the size (though that is a factor too), but because of the blue crystal - I have never seen a gents watch from that time with anything else than a clear crystal (maybe once a 40s watch with a orange crystal - but I believe that was a modern addition).

I think he meant to write:

That definitely works for me. I have used the codes to date Bulova watches for quite a while.

Newbie...1900 Private Label Hamilton

New to forum and enjoying it! Here's a private label Hamilton from 1900. It was done by Hamilton for a jewlery store in Rosewell NM by the name of Park and Morrison. You see their name on both the dial and the movement. Very cool watch! It runs well so I carry it sometimes...
