I just came across this poster for the 1924 silent film Sandra. This was the first film that Leila appeared in (she was 19 years old), and she seems to have had a more substantial role in this film than in her second film, 1926's Dancing Mothers. Interestingly enough, I do have Variety's review of Sandra, and it wasn't too kind to lead actress Barbara La Marr. Variety commented that she was looking "too heavy" in the film (...and yes, they meant weight-wise. It was no doubt a smack in the face to La Marr, whose nickname was 'The Girl Who Was Too Beautiful'). La Marr only made 3 more films after Sandra, succumbing to tuberculosis and nephritis in 1926 at the age of 29. She had already been married 5 times. Additionally, although Leila's role, as Mait Stanley, was a small beginner's role, Variety made a point of mentioning her performance in a positive light.
