Leather Trucker Levi's / Lee / Type-whatever jackets!

I had been asked if I could post some photos of how the zipper was installed to my Wintex trucker jacket but I just can't recall what thread that was so... Best I post them here. :)

Basically, right side of the tape has just been inserted between the front leather panel and inside facing where the buttons are and for the right side, an additional stripe of leather was added into which the zipper was then stitched, so that the whole setup would remain under the buttons.

Sweeeet! Thanks for sharing @Monitor this one goes to the vault! I think @MrProper is looking into these as well

Sure, no problem! Sorry I didn't do it sooner but the light is crap these days - Today, too but I recalled my iPad has a camera too, which is like 10x better than my phone cam so here they are. :D

I edited my post with a bit of info, too, in case you missed it but you get the drift of how it's been done anyway, I'm sure.

That's the way you do it. Best of both worlds. Zip + Buttons on a leather trucker.

No worries, this screen shot will be for a future project anyways. Thank you so much for taking the time and effort to take the close up photos

I saw the edited info and it's a little too technical for me but I'm sure JL or 5* will know what to do when I show them the photos. Thanks again

Lee Trevor Lee 101-J styled trucker arrived today. This piece is old news, I suppose; @tmitchell59 had one, @Guppy as well, although in a different leather. Anyway, I happen to score this pretty much unworn jacket very recently and of all the Trevor's that I have handled, which to this day would amount to 6, this one has got to be made of the most perfect leather I... Well, dare to say have ever handled. I know I've said this a lot of times but y'know how sometimes you know this what perfection looks like. Well, it's what this leather feels like to me. If I had a cross zip in this very same hide, I don't think I'd ever be looking at another jacket.

Anyway, y'all know all there is to be known about this style as it's essentially a Lee 101-J with the only difference being a double cuff snap so no reason going into that.

The jacket is very well made, all the material is top notch but this leather is where it's at. It's very sturdy and thick, the entire jacket is over 2kg so you can imagine this isn't a lightweight piece, but it's also at the same time moderately soft and very pliable, with a silky finish. There's zero stretch to it, it's not spongy and it definitely feels like a very tough hide. There's some very light artificial fading here and the rest ought to fade spectacularly.

I know Lee Trevor used to work in horsehide early on in the days - same as they switched to some lousy leather later on, once the business began booming and demand got great - so I wouldn't be surprised at all if this was one of their HH jackets, since it's their earliest style.

Either way you look at it, it's really a zenith-shelf piece by any standard, definition or comparison.

And since nothing in life is actually perfect, the jacket doesn't fit me. Tagged L, it's more like XL which means a good 4 sizes too large on me. So off it has to go but in the mean time, some photos! Zoom in, admire.

There were/was a bunch of Lee Trevor jackets for sale here in Perth Australia a couple of years ago by a fellow who had a retail outlet some years ago. All NOS. Only 20K's from me at the time. I never managed to "deal" with him but had some correspondence. Several different styles.

These Lee Trevors are mega-quality pieces and they used to cost as much as Fine Creeks or whatever fetches. But I'll be 100% honest with you, you'll see them ranging from $50 to $600. People that don't know what they have will sell 'em cheap, people that know will ask for major money and I'm trying to make a profit on this jacket. I don't want to make profit on TFL as there's a chance one could easily pop up for pocket change BUT that doesn't change the fact that it still is IMO the coolest, best looking, highest quality trucker jacket any amount of money can buy. So... Yeah. I guarantee you a piece that can make FL look like a $80 mall piece. :)

Man, I was getting all excited for you until I read the last paragraph. Too bad about the fit.
