When i first posted pictures of this 3 16 trucker made by SB, it was OK on the upper side but too long and wide in the bottom. I had it shortened and slimmed, and it now fits satisfyingly. It has that strange back that must have been a technical challenge since it's basically one big piece of leather, but can be esthetically questionable to some.
I'm happy with it, especially because of the very pleasing Horween lux.

It’s a nice trucker for sure, but imo your Aero trucker is the best one that I’ve ever seen. Ever. Impossible to top.

Thanks. The Aero is my favorite trucker, with the jerky HH and contrast stitching.
On the Aero site, they say how proud they are of the current model, and rightfully so. It is the best around. The proportions are perfect.

I plan on one day emailing Aero the pics of your trucker and ask them to make me one “exactly like that one”.

Yeah, that jacket is seriously without equal. It's an example of how the Type-3 ought to fit. Aero really destroyed the competition with that one. What I don't understand though how did you manage to get the creases into it! I wore my jerky HH trucker two years now and it still looks new!

Cool! When you do, let me know if you need any more info.

I gave it the spray treatment. Just once, and it was enough.

I’m sure I’ll have more questions if/when the day comes. Just one thing off the top of my head: what lining did you go with? Their blanket lining or something else? The blanket looks great, but it might be too warm for what I have in mind.

Just sprayed it with water and wore until dry? Agree with @Monitor the creases look awesome. Btw we don’t see nearly enough of your Aero trucker Monitor!

The lining is cotton drill, which is warm enough. I didn't choose because I got the jacket from the sales page.

Yes: wear until dry. Just make sure you use distilled water.

That's the reason why I ordered Aero's Type III in suede vegtan rust goat about 3-4 months ago....still awaiting their re-opening after Covid-19 closure! The one pictured looks beautifully too but I always wanted to try out a suede jacket and I'm sure I won't regret it.

30 pages in and I've a hit a wall. I already knew I wanted a trucker before I started!

Anyway, just wondering where you guys place Vanson in the trucker's hierarchy. Is there anything wrong with their maverick? Is there a better deal out there than a vanson for $398?

Assuming it's in good shape, it's not a bad deal. Vanson jackets are around $600-800 new depending on the model now. They tend to go around $350-500, so $400 is reasonable. The Maverick is a great jacket, not that I've owned one personally, but I've drooled over some of the photos shared here. I think the standard Maverick has no handwarmer pockets and uses snaps rather than buttons, but if those are fine for you, they're a very solid jacket and once the leather has broken in and develops some character, it'll be even better. @Monitor had one that someone had custom made, it had handwarmer pockets and a zipper + buttons up the front, which made it The One To Have in my opinion. I wish they were all made that way.

People often mention Vanson in the context of being the best value for the money but I wouldn't look at it that way because Vanson will deliver absolutely the best possible value on the market for any amount of money. Meaning you cannot go wrong with the Maverick. I had one, it was one of my favorite jackets and I regret selling it to this day (Cheyenne, not as much, though). It fit perfectly, exactly like I wanted a trucker jacket to fit, had all the features, looked great. It was a perfect leather trucker.

The only other version I'd go with is Aero's. Looks the best. IMO not much else is worth the trouble & will regularly cost waaay too much money.

Thanks for the intel fellas. I want it to fit short, like it should, which rules vanson in and a lot of others out.

My only concern at this point with vanson is the shoulders and I wonder if they might be a bit on the narrow side. I'm no trucker expert, far from it, but based off what I've seen denin wise so far it looks like these jackets tend to have broader shoulders with narrower chests. I haven't seen the vanson shoulder measurements yet but I know the chest has 4.5" of room, which is not especially narrow
I think they measure around the jacket. But no matter how u measure chest You have to consider the thicker leather and thin liner taking up some room. 4.5 inch of chest ease is pretty snug in my book.

like a model b 40 i think they say has 47-47.5 pit. Laying flat mine measure about 22.5-23. I have a 40ish chest and that was pretty trim on me. As it should be Given the style and its intended purpose

Hey guys. I'm looking for a Lee 101J type leather or suede jacket. The grail would be a Fine Creek FallsChurch, but those can't be found anywhere.

I'm generally a medium in American or Brittish brands (40-42), a large in European grands (50-52) but Japanese brands are what they are (Size 3, 4, 40, 42, L, XL... it depends a lot).

Just asking in case anyone of you has spotted an opportunity, new or used, that could be what I'm looking for.

Thanks!
