Thanks. Here's some more photos. Turns out it IS German, confirmed! I found a tag that I'd either overlooked or forgotten about when I first got it.

Here's some close up shots of the grain and color. It's really hard to describe, and to photograph. The leather itself is very thick, as I said, but the hand is weirdly waxy, and almost rubbery, yet velvety. The color is brown and again hard to capture, in low light it's deceptively dark, and washes out a lot in direct lighting.

I will include photos of the tag I found in the next comment.

And here's the tag. Eghaus-Pak Industries. Never heard of them, don't know anything about them. I really would like to know what the leather is. "100% genuine leather" doesn't tell much. I assume cow, but it could be buffalo, or something else for all I know, but I assume if it were exotic the animal would be named on the tag. The polyester lining is nothing special, and there is one inside pocket, which is handy. I really like trucker jackets that have handwarmer AND inside pockets, not the ones that only have chest pockets.

My assumption is that this is a well made, heavy, yet not expensive or high end jacket. I am curious about what it would have cost new, and when and where it was made. The label being in German helps establish it as a German jacket, but with the name Eghaus-Pak, I wonder if it might be manufactured in Pakistan.

I have always been attracted to the Leather trucker jacket. I thought it was a select disorder!

Great collection. Wasn't that Vanson from ebay? Schott makes an interesting looking trucker. I've seen a few of those, but not lately. I try not to look for them. I just gave my daughter a reversible in a ladies size. too cool to pass up. I need to stay away from them. I haven't even bought one that fits.

I'm sorry my Lost Worlds won't work for you. We gave it a shot. I may hang it on the wall. It fits better when I shrink!

It's crazy Alan still hasn't shipped my new CXL overdye jacket that he modifying and I'm already talking to him but another jacket. Why are leather jackets so addicting?

Of all the jackets that I got, I don't think any other has seen more wear than this Wintex. German maker. They used to be really high quality. It's a great jacket in any case and more jackets I see, more I appreciate the leather it's made of.

that is my favorite. I've seen a few others out of Europe that were very interesting, unknowns to me, but way too small.

I just love these! They're classic, cool, versatile, comfortable, beautiful and very forgiving size-wise. Couldn't find a similar thread so figured it's time a dedicated one got started.

So post yours! No matter if they're cheapos, no-names, etc. (like mine) - as long as you got one (or two or ten) that you love, share!

Here are some of mine. In addition to this Vanson Type-III (or Maverick, as they've named it) that you've already seen...

Finally, a standard Levi's Type-III. Least cool of the bunch as it's quite long and baggy but the cowhide is gorgeous and the jacket is very well made. I gave it to a friend just a few days ago because I've got another one in the mail.

I like your least favorite the best. I have to have loose to get the long that I need. Gotta have 36" sleeves minimum. I also like buttons over snaps and zipper. Do you think the quilt on the one on ebay you sent me is heavy? Turns out they will ship to the USA. The other one was way too small.
Anybody see anything in a Large/long, or XL let me know. My denim "jean jacket" that I've had since the late early 90s is tagged 46. It's a bit big, but long enough.
Do you ever see any black over blue like teacore?

Cool thread.

Greetings!

Is the LW sz 46 that is referenced at the top available? Not sure if all the jackets you post on this forum are part of your personal wardrobe but I gather you do sell some of them. If this is something you would consider parting with please let me know. I do peruse the Classifieds but have not seen the LW there. Regardless, they are both fabulous jackets and look as though they would survive anything!

@Guppy , that's a good one alright! I know this leather, seen it on a few jackets albeit they were all from the US. It's kinda like naked cow except yeah, suede-ish to touch. Not fuzzy but far from smooth. Sandy, in a way. I think it's a completely naked hide. It's tough as nails, that I know. European jackets rarely or never have the tag with the species of the animal to which the hide belonged to so it literally could be anything, from deer to horsehide. Friend of mine bought a few custom made jackets in Austria or somewhere I think, made by a small company that was dealing only with horsehide and they never once pointed this out on any of their jackets. It was a normal thing for them. The owner preferred it 'cause he thought it's a good hide for bike gear. It's an ace jacket in any case.

@tmitchell59 , man, I don't know whether I love the 46 or the 42 more. I think I may even prefer the first one, looking at them side by side. It's a bit sharper. And that collar...

Cool thread.

Never saw a truly heavy lining attached to a Levi's jacket so I don't think so. The blanket ones are the heaviest they'd done and those are pretty hefty. This one is probably a standard lightly padded sateen/nylon quilted lining... Same as on Schott, I guess. But I can't be 100% sure. Today I found two Lee leather jackets at this second hand store I frequent but they were so lightweight I actually skipped on both. Even tho they were dirt cheap. And that never happens! So you can never be too sure until you have the jacket in your hands.
But all these Levi leather trucker jackets I handled were great quality.

Monitor, I'm so glad you started this thread, I'm talking to Alan at Johnson Leathers about making me one of his trucker jackets with some modifications. I love Aero's Type 3 and miss having a Trucker style jacket.

He's sending me a sample of 4oz+ Horween CXL steer from a batch of a different brown color. It was described as a batch of Brown CXL that turned out a little different, I'm hoping thats a good thing. I'm torn and haven't decided on what lining to go with a blanket lining (like the old levi's) or a heavy satin lining?

One in 4oz+ CXL is like a dream inside a dream. Might turn out to be my favorite jacket on the board! What does JL trucker jacket looks like??? I never saw one of their! You got any photos?

These jackets are weird... I love CR's because they're cool, sharp, sleek, simple, elegant, etc., etc. but these type-# ones... I can't even tell why but I just love them. Plus they fit me a lot better than any CR. I should stick to just 'em and leave CR's to better looking folk. :)

I think that's an accurate description!

Since you're in the EU, do you have any info on Eghaus Pak? Google isn't turning up anything in english language searches.

Y'know, I'm 99.99% sure I've seen this same tag on another jacket but I can't remember what it was... I can't find any info on it, though. Lot of these were made all over Europe, some of outstanding quality.

Nice to know. I see a lot of Levi leather truckers, so many different styles, labels, leathers.

I'm sure not all are that good. Near all that I have seen in the official Levi stores during the last five years have been extremely lightweight and cheap looking, albeit well made. But I think everything till the early 90's is good stuff. Great, even.
