chaps the hercules is basically this jacket with a little bit more length and a prettier front. What can I say!? Keeping 'em both seems a little bit extravagant, no? Anyway I haven't actually listed it anywhere yet and even if I do that doesn't guarantee someone's gonna take it!

TBH I don't notice the moleskin lining, which I suppose is a good thing. It must mean it's breathable. Fyi, here is still a bit chilly

Extravagance is a noble aim where these jackets are concerned and in any case flipping a jacket should be so you can get something better and I just don't see what you would be looking to improve upon. The ones you have are nice styles, the hides and fits are great and they are different enough to be wearable in different situations and weather conditions.

Don't sell something just to start thinking about another 'project' - You've topped out! Won the game!

I've not got time to read this full thread, I've just returned from a much needed holiday and have lots on, so I can't answer every speculation. As far as Schitzo's jacket goes, Ken advised in this style it was unnecessary and he wouldn't recommend it. I've been advised that in many styles its not needed, it is there to protect the lining from wear in areas of abrasion, for example its quite common to see holes develop in the lower areas of lining in a Highwayman, where the lining rubs where there are cinch buckles. Besides in these areas its not really necessary, but we will fit it on request for no extra charge.

In all honesty, I'm told that these were offered as a way to wean customers off the leather strips which actually do damage to the jacket/result in them sitting poorly.

Thanks for the clarification Holly. It's good to know I can have a strip on my planned Pioneer if I want it. Of course nobody expects you to read to read all of this - as far as we know you are not a fetishist or a zealot - and so that is perfectly acceptable . I hope the Scottish spring time wasn't too much of a shock to the system

I guess what you load in there obviously makes a difference. Personally, I like to keep one for my wallet, which I use regularly. The other one I hardly ever use, but I like to have it there for my passport, for the occassions that I visit an airport

I am the same. I travel a lot and the passport is by far the main use the inside pocket gets. Wallets I slip in my back pocket. They would be pretty bulky in a side pocket: does anyone do this any more?

But SJ, surely that's the place a pick pocket would most like you to have it? Especially if you are wearing your newly acquired (and as yet unphotographed.. hint hint ) short fitting A2

Well, schitzo, my A2 doesn't have an inside pocket because my policy now is to alter Aero styles as little as possible.

reminds me of a time I was in Shanghai. I was accosted on the street by two 'lovelies' and as we walked down the Nanjing Road (touristy shopping part), one on each arm, I felt both my jacket pockets being dipped. It didn't bother me.. I knew full well that my wallet was safely tucked up in the inside stud closure pocket of the cherry highwayman I had on. They wanted to get me into a tea house and I wanted to get them back to my hotel. In the end neither party got what it wanted

@ SJ it was once remarked on here that I would make a great ex-wife re: my tendency to nag for photos, and since I wouldn't want to pick up a reputation.. do feel free to let the process unfold organically

Yes, the 352nd (?) Fighter Group of the USAAF, as memory serves, ordered those en masse, and they were the only run of A2s in the original incarnation to come with an inside pocket already fitted. It'd be interesting to see Aero do a run of those. I've also seen Blood chits sewn on the inside, with the top left unsttched, to for a pocket. Not sure they'd be up to supporting anything much in them, though.

Yes, I would never (aside from back in the day when I used a chained 'skater wallet') carry a wallet in a rear pocket. If it's in a side trouser pocket (only when I have no other choice, owing to the jacket being worn or similar), I am extremely aware of it at all times when there are crowds or even a single stranger nearby. I actually wore my Wested Raiders in Delhi the other week when I didn't really need a jacket on, simply because the inside, zipped pocket was the perfect place to stow a wallet... The nightmare scenario is when it gets too hot to wear a jacket at all, but I try not to be anywhere where that happens.

Am I missing soimething? Sure, the HB is a very nice jacket but I seriously don't get how this one seems to be the most appreciated. Would anyone care to articulate exactly why? For me I feel like it's half an inch too long, and also probably a little bit broader than optimum. IMO probably a better (albeit marginally) fit on somebody with a slightly bigger chest i.e. 39 or 40 - I am just 38

To me, the fit looks perfect. The jacket itself is gorgeous. It's the best design, in my opinion. It's practical and simple, and, in this case, less is much more. The Half Belt is the best jacket you've shown and one of the better leather jackets that I have seen. It's a keeper.

One last thing, even if you think that it's slightly too big now (I do not agree), you will likely get a little bigger in the coming years and the jacket is only going to get better as the years go on. It's great...keep it!

IMHO - the 50's HB looks like a perfect fit and the Hercules looks a little tight. Bottom line is you know what and how you like a jacket to fit, so you have to make yourself satisfied and not be concerned with other peoples tastes!

My 2 pen'th. If you have to keep one, and let one go, keep the Hercules - sell the HB. The half-belt is in the right place on the new one. The old HB simply doesn't fit so well.
