I think if the inside pocket is on the left hand, and there's a breast pocket, its lining protects the jacket shell, so you don't get the outline. I'll probably leave the pockets out in future - or at least not right-hand ones.

@ HD how long have you had those for and have they seen a lot of wear?

@ Griff those are stud closure pockets aren't they. I remember reading on here (think it was a WDW post) that zip closure pockets are a better option to avoid that.

All these pockets are between the lining and the outer shell. That's what's making me think something sewn on top of the lining might be less noticeable. Or maybe it would still imprint.. I don't know

I'm considering getting the issue fixed - it was made worse by the seat belt in my car pulling tight on the jacket, causing 'unusual' wear. I don't really use the right hand pocket tbh, it ruins the line of the jacket, and even with the left one I usually just stick my ipod in it. I think I'll leave the pockets out in future and just use my jeans pockets instead...

I don't have a problem with the button, I have a "problem" with the panels, on both inside and outside pockets.

Specially since wear will come around the panel and make it stand out even more.

Hi Schitzo

One of your jackets seems, in the pics, to be already showing angular shapes coming through the hide.

The one on the left could be your phone, I guess, but it does demonstrate how easily the smooth front of a hide jacket can be disrupted..

I once had a very nice, fairly heavy Timberland leather jacket in a colour that I loved. I had to let it go tho cos my skin would overheat in that thing - as though it wouldn't let it breathe. That might not be a good way of explaining it!

Anyhow the inside pocket did not show through. Here's a pic

This style of pocket but with a loop to fasten over a button, as opposed to the stud closure press, is what I had in mind

EDIT: Excellent eyes Major! (Not Griff).
Actually when those shots were taken I forgot that I had been using that jacket as a moneybox (don't ask me why). Those lines, in both pockets, are wads of notes - which have since been removed!

I put the dates of purchase next to the list of jackets in my post. I wear these jackets exclusively throughout the fall(mid October-December) off and on much of winter and exclusively again during early spring(March-May). The Highwayman has seen quite a bit of wear..and the others,of course, not quite as much yet. It's obvious that others seem to have a problem with printing. I really can't say why..except that I don't 'always' carry large or alot of items crammed in those pockets. The outline border and snaps don't show at all on any of my jackets.

I've got a couple of jackets with a pop stud inside pocket and another on order. I can't say I've ever given it a thought. You might see an outline with a skin tight fit I suppose but if you really were worried about that you wouldn't have a pocket in the first place. Because anything in the pocket will be a lot more obvious than a popper.

Sorry HD that's right you did, I'm a dufus!
I guess what you load in there obviously makes a difference. Personally, I like to keep one for my wallet, which I use regularly. The other one I hardly ever use, but I like to have it there for my passport, for the occassions that I visit an airport

I imagine that if one doesn't stuff the inside pockets, there shouldn't be a problem, as illustrated by HD. My inside pockets are closed by snaps and generally located on left side only. I became accustomed to vertical inside pockets with snap closure years ago whe I was issued my first US Navy G-1.

I didn't stuff my inside pockets at all. In fact I only ever had a small cellphone in the FQHH highwayman.

It should be obvious that its the pocket panel that is coming through. I don't have anything in my caferacer, and I'm sure Aero doesn't have stuffed pockets on that model caferacer but still the outline of the panel comes through, and in some cases this is also true with inside pockets.

If you get the jacket worn in and beat up, the outlines won't even be noticeable. I'll see if I can get pics of my 50's HBD. I have heavy brown corduroy in them all, and I use them for my wallet, iPhone, money, etc. I never notice this so I guess it's not showing through enough to care. I've also had moto jackets where I can see the pockets but it never bothered me. It just needs to be abused more I think. ;)

A few creases and lines on my jacket would not bother me at all. I prefer the convenience of the inside pocket over any little bulge that might show!

I've reached a decision which is to try and move on the HB. So here is the as yet unpublished previously alluded to HB porn - which I may link to later

Schitz, it's a shame it's not a size 42-44, or I'd take it off your hands. :frown: How is the moleskin lining in your new Hercules working out?

You're nuts to flip that Schitzo, that there's a jacket to grow old with and the pics you posted show that it's a great fit. How much better is it supposed to get, exactly?

+1 One of the best looking jackets I have seen with an ideal fit. I dunno either.:noidea:
