It was one of my very first Ebay hat purchases......There was a lesson in there that I was very slow to learn!
Maybe it was a rare Dick Tracy model?

And what about the woman in clown school; did she have shoes to match the hat? Did she graduate with honors?

If it was the Tracy model would have kept it. She graduated and not sure if she ever bought the complete uniform.
She is probably serving Dick Tracy's somewhere, at least before the pandemic shutdown.

I knew a woman who was a great Calamity Jane reenactor. She was hired seasonal in one of the casinos in the Blackhills of Deadwood, SD. She would dress the part, play the piano, etc. After a couple of seasons she was spotted by someone from Hollywood & moved on to there. Don't know what happened from there.

Here is my earliest "Beaver Brand" hat. I feel it is from around 1970 or so (it does not seem to be from 1980, and trade mark not withstanding I still think they started the beaver line around 1970 as they initially used much of the same designs in the logos (just replacing "Lion Hats" with "Beaver Hats") and keeping the same quality designations. The 1980 file date COULD be the full logo/trade mark re-design, but then...... I have been wrong before...:rolleyes::oops:), one of the first to pick up after "Lion Hats" was dropped for the beaver line.....Note the same style "European" bow as on my 60's Lion Hat......this is a long hair finish and quite nice.

Early to mid-1930's.......has a really wide (just over 2") non-reeded textured sweat with taped joint. Very tall crown with narrow brim reminiscent of the 20's......Very nice sort of short hair finish on this one.......bow is offset to the rear though not as much as the 40's version above......This hat was (is) like new.....came from that NOS stock from Iowa......has original stock tag with code and retail price of $2.95!!!!

Specs:
6" Crown (open)
3-3/8" Brim
1/4" Ribbon (2-ply)
205g Weight
Not the finest hat by any means. The 10X and Moleskin finish is definitely some marketing mumbo jumbo. Stiff as a board with a few irregularities in the brim. I had to wrestle quite bit to lower the bumpers and my fingers were red by the time I was done. Probably a combination of manhandling the hat, being burnt by the steam, and some dye.

That being said, it was the color got me along with the medium hair finish. This will be a fun hat. :)

Outstanding color, Jonathan. I also like the crease...can’t recall seeing one exactly like it.

Cool hat Jonathan. Very unique. I agree with Brent on the crease
