As $ally put it so eloquently:

Arizona Chippies are fine ladies, the whole package. We are gorgeous-looking, swoon-inducing, dead sexy, knock-outs. Not to mention stylish, bright, funny, quick-witted, sassy, creative, and multi-talented. We are also kind, caring, giving, generous, loyal friends. We are the talk of the town in any town. If we weren't so sweet, you'd have to hate us.

but that doesn't explain the term "chippie", we don't have the word "chippie" this side of the pond, or at least it means somewhere where you buy chips (french fries) from over here!

I think of the chippie (aka fish n chip shop) whenever I read about the AZ chippies too! I'd love to know where the term came from :)

It's an older term for a lady that used to not be very nice. This is from the Urban Dictionary:
"Cheap, common, sexually promiscuous girl, wearing way too much makeup and shiny cheap jewelry, usually underage or close to it.
Don't wear that outfit. That miniskirt with the hot-pink lipstick and inch of black eyeliner on your eyes makes you look like a chippie. "

That said, I guess it is more American that anything, since you folks in the UK use it differently. Back in the 30s and 40s, it was an insult. We girls embrace our Chippie-ness, but have given it a new twist! What $ally said a few posts back really defines us. ;)

Well, it's all true and there's more you haven't even heard yet. Just wait until our next lunch-a pool party.....I wonder how many times I can shove that blonde into the pool before she kills me. lol

I'm noticing a disturbing trend here and at the "Men of the Lounge" thread. It seems to me that women are commenting on the women and the men are commenting on the men. I say we keep these threads co-educational and not so segregated.

Keep posting those amazing pictures girls, I've noticed a slow down as of late.

Love ya, mean it! :p

I would love to comment on EVERY one of the beautiful ladies photos posted here; however, seeing that I have children older than most of them, I'm a little reluctant to comment too much. I'd hate to be thought of as a "dirty old man" ...

Funny how some phrases transcend time and culture gaps. I remember first hearing the term "Chippie" from a young female co-worker back in the 1980s on suburban Long Island.

My grandmother used to say it in a whisper when I was a kid-it was so naughty!

pgoat-your avatar is the BEST. I have always wanted to say that-you are cooler than cool!

I'd never heard the term 'chippie' until Pink, Red, and Lo told me they wanted to adapt the name and flaunt it. We have our own definition because we are that cool.
I'm sort of the senior emeritus-status chippie though.

I always used chippie to reference in a passing manner a woman I didn't know.

(#7 at Urban Dictionary

An indeterminate noun referring to a female (usually young) whom the speaker does not know very well.

This term would not be used in reference to anyone that the speaker is presumed to have more than a passing acquaintance with.

"Did you get the notes from the class you missed?"
"Yeah, this one chippie from the other section lent me hers."

"who's that in the picture with him?"
"Some chippie he knew back in the day."
