Kriegsmarine Colani / Peacoat dating

Hi guys,

I am looking to purchase a Colani but I am not sure about the origins of the colani.
From the tag inside, it looks like it is a Kriegsmarine Colani from 1944, but I never saw this kind of design with the slanted pockets on a Kriegsmarine Colani before. It is also remarkable that there were no patches on this coat.

I am not sure on the sizing of this coat. What modern size would this coat be? S or M?

Apparently the buttons are from different manufacturers, some with Kriegsmarine 1940 labels and some other with Overhoff or A&S label.

Thanks for your help guys, I have attached some pictures:

I don't know how you'd expect us to tell you the size when there's no measurements. But it looks very nice, you don't see jackets from that era in such condition very often. If it's close to fitting, I'd jump on it, and if it doesn't fit you you shouldn't have any problem flipping it.

The measurements are on the second picture, but so far I don't know how to read the sizing.

As I said before I have my doubts about this being from that time period due to the pockets without flaps, so I wanted to learn about the details from someone more knowledgeable than I am. Honestly I am not sure whether there are repros out there that even imitate the size tag on the inside.

The lack of pocket flaps doesn't indicate old or new and was common enough in the old days. I think you should fire up google and find some military forums which focus on vintage military stuff; there's a lot of them around and some will have detailed info.

Can't comment on this with an expert eye, but fwiw... I had a couple of German peacoats like this over the years, both bought from the same Army surplus store in Belfast. One in 1989, the second in 1997, as I recall. The labelling, such as it was, didn't include anything like that on the inside pocket (which was large enough for an average novel). I was told mine was from the sixties, West German. I see very similar on sale now, but with a poly- quilt lining instead of a second layer of the same cloth as the shell. If I could find one like this in my size now, I'd buy and weasr the hell out of it irrespective of era.

Thanks for your comments guys. I thought I would find an expert on this board, but I will look at other boards as well now.
