I won an auction last week for a '50's Army uniform grouping- just got the box today and I thought some of you might find it interesting. The amazing thing about all this stuff is it actually fits me. The shirts are all 16x34 and the pants are 36x33-34 with one pair a 37L.
Here's the rundown:
3 tropical weight wool khaki officers shirts, WWII pattern
4 pairs tropical wool khaki trousers 1955 pattern (one with the waist tag still attached)
1 pair cotton Khaki trousers, 1945 pattern
(3) 8.2 oz cotton khaki officers shirts, w/epaulets 1946 pattern
(3) cotton poplin 4 oz shirts, stand up collar, no epaulets 1954 pattern
1 pair long underwear, top and bottoms, dated 1953
AND, incredibly, 1 pair of boxer skivvies, dated 1953
ALSO one tropical wool khaki officers blouse 42 Long pattern date 1945, made in 1950
AND 1 taupe wool officers trench-style overcoat, also size 42 long dated 1953
All this stuff is in new condition, with only the cotton khaki trousers and shirts showing a little wear. The stenciling for the tags hasn't even worn off the shirt tails..

I got lucky on this one- usually large sizes (I.E modern sizes) gear gets pricey. I think since this stuff is post WWII, and not listed that well it went under the radar.
It's all still '40's cut though- big, roomy, and comfortable with high armholes...
Cheers

On Hiatus. Really. Or Not.
I found a similar trove a couple of years ago...

... but all from 1945-46. A complete summer worsted wool Class A suit (tunic and trousers), three winter-weight pinks n' greens trousers, four cotton shirts. Set me back about $300. I sold the four cotton shirts for $50 each and one pair of the green trousers for $100 and ended up with no net investment. Leads me to think that selling these items in lots is not a smart move.

BTW, the size on THOSE items was 40 inch waist and 46L jacket!

BTW-2, great deal, fish!

$300 doesn't sound too bad just for three pairs of "pink' OD winter weight trousers alone (the repros are $120 each from WPG). but to get a couple keeper pairs plus all the other stuff and STILL come out even- not bad at all...

This lot is all US Army and all summer stuff- no "pink" or "cholcolate" OD uniforms.

Unless it's a group with documentation and provenance (even then it has to be USAAF or Airborne or similar) selling in lots always seems to bring in less money. Good deal for those of us who buy more than we sell...

Cheers
