I don't like audible clocks, and I have a very singular self-made clock at the kitchen part of our "big room", but from time to time, I'm tempted to get one o those:

You can't see it too well in the photo but the corners are beveled and the deco line motif appears at 12, 3, 6 and 9.

I got it a couple of years ago at The Christmas Tree shop. How to describe The Christmas Tree shop to those of you not in New England? The website says they're a "year-round bargain store"; it's kind of like a Marshalls with no clothes.

Anyway, I paid $3.99 for it--a good placeholder until I find a vintage one I like.

I've had this 50s vintage clock for years. At least 15 years ago I replaced the electric motor with a battery-powered one (I couldn't stand the noise the original motor made) and it's worked fine. I love how the chrome and brushed aluminum goes with everything I have!

Aren't they fun, with the gaudy architecture? I usually go to the one in Hyannis (always associate them with Cape Cod and vacation). One of my favorite things to do is buy .99 rolls of Christmas wrap in July, but I've found some unusual stuff there too.

The only time I used to get to Christmas Tree Shops was on vacation in Cape Cod, which my family hated because I would load up the car! A couple of years ago one actually opened near me, so now I'm there at least once a month! Like the commercial says, "Don't you just love a bargain"!!!! I do!:D
