Hey bros thanks for all the replies. I’ll respond more specifically to them after I’ve had my coffee.
But I was specifically looking for veg-tanned because I read the environmental consequences of chromium dye are pretty nasty. I know that American producers like Taylor Stitch and Horween are under EPA regs to manage the wastewater from their factories but I don’t know much about their process for doing so.
Lately I’ve been getting interested in sustainable materials and for all my cloth stuff I want to start buying hemp/cotton blend and wool, and just move off 100% cotton (it’s honestly not a great material anyway, hemp/cotton blend is lighter and more durable). I’m also not interested in polyester even if recycled because it sends microparticles into our water supplies.

I’m not trying to preach to anyone (or even dismiss the quality of chrome-tanned leather), just answering the question why I’m looking for veg-tanned and why I got into higher-end jackets. It’s a small change I can make and I like to vote with my wallet.
If anyone knows more about how American facilities manage their chrome dye waste I’d love to hear it. I emailed Taylor Stitch (a company that promotes themselves as environmentally-friendly from top to bottom) and customer service got back to me saying they’d “check on it”. Lol.
Sure, we all have our motivations. If you are looking into environmental factors, I would suspect looking into traditional bark tanning would be the best option, but very prohibitive and complicated.
If you want something less prohibitive, Blattwerk might just be the ticket https://heller-leder.com/blattwerk-133
Only Simmons Bilt carries this leather as far as I am aware. You could always buy the hide and send it to your maker of choice, most would be willing to work with leather you provide.
Otherwise classic veg tanned leather, although I haven't done any research to figure out which ones are more environmentally friendly.

Greg just told me that his email has been down for a few weeks. His web designer is working on solving the problem. He's very responsive through his social channels. You shouldn't have any problems reaching out to him there. Thanks Marc.
Love all your jackets, mainly Thedi jackets.

What about Blattwerk quality?. I know a guy that is ordering one of these from SB.
Let's hope I can upload some pics of A-1 Blattwerk MahoganyI don't own anything made of it yet, so I can't tell you how it feels in use. But I was interested in getting something made of it, haven't done so yet because I have too many ongoing orders lol
I just ordered a Rainbow Country Single Rider I found randomly on EBay. Dude said he's shipping it Monday, can't wait til it gets in. I don't particularly care if the leather's Shinki or Italian, I just HAVE to have that little band and button on the collar. Feel like it adds a degree of formality, while also reminding me of a moto jacket. Otherwise I could've bought an Aero or Eastman and saved time and money. Also, idk if it's just the camera flash, but the Eastman Walnut jackets seem really "glossy" in every picture. I like a flat finish.Look into Shinki!
I'd say it's the camera flash. The californian isn't glossy in real life. Also, idk if it's just the camera flash, but the Eastman Walnut jackets seem really "glossy" in every picture. I like a flat finish.
