GREAT BUYS

Absolutely fantastic buys. The McLaughlan I suspect will be a "Silver Beaver 50". you won't find a nicer hat. Worth about $700-$1000/

The DOBBS is one of the best dress hats, and this looks like an early one.

I salute you!

Thanks, after reading about Andykev's Maclachlin I've been trying to find one. They don't come up very often and very rarely on buy it now. Andy and I have been bidding against each other on ebay for a number of years now. Most of the time he won. It was great when he started to post here. I got to see some pics of the hats I never won.

Also, as a real testament to Art's talent is how much Zohar's new hat made by Art looks just like these originals.

You lucky dog. I missed these, and even have a favorite search for the Mac. I think I may have misspelled it in the search. Time to edit the search so I won't miss the next one. I have been looking for that hat since Andykev told us about it. Those hats, both look great. Fedora

I don't know anything about MacLachlan hats per se, but that is definitely a super sharp lid. Great find.

Ebay has been sparce

I have been very discouraged on Ebay with the lack of good hats....now WOW look at what you all have found!!. I have 35 hat boxes in my spare bedroom (computer room) as we speak....and Art has received maybe 20 of my hats that I am "disposing of".

So, unless there is a good 7 3/8 out there (I got a great DUNLAP last month or so). Art got the other two hats that were included in my auction. HATS = WORK sometimes....LOL

PLEASE let me know if the McLaughlan is a SILVER BEAVER!

Andy, will it say so on the sweatband? It didn't look like anything was printed about it from the pics. Either way I understand that Maclachlan made an excellant hat and the Dobbs had that LOOK that I really like.

wow - those are some of the nicest fedoras I have ever seen - especially the Dobbs. Man, that's nice!!!

I have a Wynewood myself and I love it. Interestingly, I think LaSalle is the same company. I recently got a vintage LaSalle and the liners were identical, only it said "LaSalle" instead of "Wynewood" - but all the other wording, fonts, and layout were the same.

Anyway, my hat is off to you. Beautiful hats, every one of them.

Ahh, that Dobbs looks brand new and just so in every way and still has that look of old just like it steped out of the past. Does any one know the history on Dobbs like what the 20 was for ? This one looks really high end and I wondered.

Are you gonna style that MacLachlan any different? It seems to have brim all down ?

They both look like they just are brand new old.

Zane,
the Dobbs "20" mean't that it sold for $20. This is the case for most of them but doesn't give felt content, just the implied value based on price. With the normal Dobbs selling at around $8 back then it gives an indicater.

regards

Art, I thank you for your insight. That almost surly was the creame of the crop hats as both are just premium looking . I can imagine both came from a wealthy mans estate sale or such and probably both had the same original owner.

I wish I had a place to store more hats as I surly would jump on some of them deals . My god I am sure he could easily sell each of them for 100 each if he had any interested buyer at all.
