I like elements of each era, I like the softer look of the 1930s clothes, but I like the longer hair & higher heels of the 1940s. I don't care for the shoulder pads or mannish suits of the 40s, and I don't like the tight bunched up hair of the 30s. I don't think I could stick to one look, or have a text-book look as though I fell off a magazine page from 1935, or 1942, or whenever.
