Johnson Leathers Custom Coat, Jacket
Made in San Francisco, USA
Fits like a 42 long
$195 shipped CONUS (or best offer!)

This custom leather coat uses what I believe to be a 4.5 oz cowhide shell in an unusual gunmetal gray-blue. The jacket is in excellent condition inside and out. It features two outside breast pockets with snap closures and two handwarmer pockets. The jacket also has four interior pockets (two vertical 'pistol' pockets and two horizontal map pockets).

I would describe the hue as a gunmetal blue, very close to the paint job on the 1927 Model T pictured below. It's a unique color for leather, yet very wearable and not in least eccentric, even by own fairly conservative standards in terms of jackets. I rolled the dice on this jacket second hand because I liked the color (not one I've ever seen on leather) and it was better than I expected. The leather has a lovely, substantial hand and a ton of depth, grain, and luster. I think most of that comes through in the pics. There was rain the day I took the photos so the long distance shots are a little washed out - that's the poor lighting conditions, not flaws in the jacket.

I love the jacket, but it fits like a 42 long and would look best in my opinion on someone 5'11 or taller. (I'm a straight up size 40 and 5'9).

Measurements given in inches and taken with jacket front fastened and the jacket laid flat...

Chest - 23 1/2"
Shoulder - 20"
Sleeve (shoulder to end of cuff) - 25 1/2"
Front length - 31 1/4"
Back length- 30 1/2"

PM me if you have any questions.

Cool jacket, great color!

I was just in a Schott store in LA, and they had these dark blue 613 jackets for the Japanese market, that were brought in for the 4th of July where they had red, white and blue jackets for sale. The shop sold all the red jackets, the white ones went away, and the blue were still around.

I was really surprised at how awesome the color looked, and how it wore. It looked black, until the light hit it, and then it was this wonderful blue.

If I had not already had a 613, I would have picked it up... Instead I purchased a P213 while I was there, which was more of what I have been looking for...

jtavan - awesome. Glad you found this jacket (and that the jacket, after a little P.O. scare, found you). Happy holidays and enjoy.

I REALLY love this! It's a leather shirt, I mean but nicest one I've seen!

Very similar in design to a couple of textile jackets I've picked up over the last couple of years (I'm actually wearing one of them in the photos from the recent London get together). Not a million miles away from a trucker jacket in some ways, except longer. Not a length that I was always into in leather jacket but am increasingly becoming attracted to (I blame a couple of very nice examples in Man in the High Castle). I hope the new owner will grace us with some fit pictures; I think this will look especially nice with workwear, or perhaps (depending on fit) some chunky knitwear, like a submariner sweater.

Agree. The jacket looks great when paired with outfits with a workwear vibe, esp since it fits and wears similar to a modern (slightly slimmed down) chore coat. As Edward mentions, you can see some kinship to a trucker with the pockets and the sleeve cuffs.

It's a style I would like to see more often or even adopted by some of the great makers. It's so casual, comfortable, nonchalant, easy to wear....but then I'm partial to chore coats. I would love to get a hold of another that fits me. Despite its shirt-like appearance in the photos, the thing has substance and weight, and you know you're wearing a stout, well made leather garment.

Thanks for the welcome, everyone. Here's a couple quick phone snapshots of the jacket in use, as requested. This forum is indeed dangerous. Found it while researching leather jackets, placed an order for a custom Aero, and while waiting for that to arrive I've somehow found myself with four new and new-to-me jackets (two leather, two denim) and a closet full of tweed...
